What's a game you played that made you feel old?

Any games released before 2010. They feels nostalgic to me, while for typical young person it's a thing of past.

Either Pong or Space Invaders, also Ascii graphics, commonly seen in roguelikes and old bbses.

I recently finished replaying Golden after 3 years, and it was a bit surreal. Back when I first played, I was the same age as the protagonist. Now I'm a good bit older, and it's like "wow, I'm aging further than this main cast ever can." Maybe that sounds a little silly. Anyway, I'm not very old at all, but high school life feels both recent and distant, so playing this again felt like a nice trip down memory lane.
It made me feel a bit old and tired. I was 41, married with two kids when I played it (2018), and I had spend five years in school followed by three years for my wife to get a graduate degree, and the juggle of school life, friends, and TV World was sometimes a bit overwhelming. I did finish it though, but luckily enough the story and characters pulled me along pretty well.

A coworker calling Fallout 4 an "old game" actually just left me speechless. Somehow my mind just refuses to accept the fact that it's almost 12 years old.
Fuck that definitely hit me. Turning 30 is weird cause you suddenly realize how long a decade really is lol

Hades 2. When I fought a certain character (postgame only) - they were much slower than the way they fought in the first game (and they still killed me even when slowed.) In that moment I interpreted it as the devs acknowledging the slowing reflex of the gamers who played the first game. I could be wrong, though.

No vg makes me feel old, precisely because it’s a distraction that keeps my mind off the constant thought of time passing... But paradoxically, it’s a hobby that made me waste precious time in the past😅

Life it never fails to make me feel old.
Jokes aside
A couppe of games like
Rayman Revolution or Rygar for my Ps2.
Ironically most modern games which overhelm with to many features and 100 hours plus gameplay, can make me feel like a Boomer.

But the Worst offender Civilzation not sure the exact part, but it makes me feel old since I lack the same patient I had back then to play it.

Probably Game Boy games. To think that I was playing games when they were black & white and the handheld didn't even have a backlight. I'm a millennial feeling more like a boomer. 💀

Now that it's fresh in my mind again, Granblue Fantasy. The game is like 12 years old now, to me it's still the game I had to figure out how to make a JP account on and play completely blind in practice because there was a time when this game did not have an english translation, so it was a lot of bumbling about trying to figure out what the funny moon runes would do. Not only has the game fundamentally changed how it plays like 3 or 4 times now, but when the game is mentioned even mobile game players talk about the game like some shitty mobile ad on the play store like what?
I imagine this is what the people that used to play play PSO2 before it got a localization felt XD
I wouldn't know though, never got around to PSO2 until it got a proper localization. For that matter it's nuts that the way the game looks got completely scuffed after new genesis dropped. Someone seriously needs to back up the game and make a private server or something.

yep. hits like a freight train because it doesn't even feel like that long ago XD

For me personally, I'd say Undertale. May sound like an odd choice, but remember; that game is 10 years old. I remember hearing people talk about it when I was in grade school.

Man... It's gonna feel strange when people my age take millennials' places in about 10 more years.

Edit: Wait shit, saw the RETRO tags, lmao. If need be I'll remove this.

eh at this point what does retro mean specifically lol
considering what is being posted, if the xbox 360 can be argued to be retro why not undertale XD

When I was starting Star Fox Adventure I got surprised by hearing a character saying something like "to interact with things around press the A button, you can also talk to me anytime by pressing the Start button and selecting me".

I genuinely miss when games allowed themselves to be extradiegetic (aka breaking the fourth wall) to help the player as "non-immersive" it was.

It's in my Top 5 games of all time, but even I recognize that the graphics have aged worse than other examples from same era 🫤
This game was probably one of the first instances of me finding out how the graphics in game look completely different from what they show in the opening movie. I remember being so disappointed when it switched to gameplay and realizing it looked nothing like the cutscene. Still a great game though.

If the graphics already bothered you on PS2, imagine how they'd be on the lower resolution of PSP 🤭

I remember thinking Street Fighter II was the peak of graphics when I was a kid. Then I realized that was 1991 — 35 years ago. Same age gap as my parents telling me about Pong. Actually got myself a little retro site called CRTPlay on the side because of that feeling.
