me personally I don't know but I think it would be, not the best but still thriving form website because there will always be retro consoles
Is it not, now?I think the future of the internet in general (especially in regards to piracy) will consist of small walled-off communities in a sea of bots, corporate websites and AI generated slop. RGT could be one of those communities if it sticks around.
We will be here, 20-30 years older.
I was going to say something similar. i don't think 1# will ever happen because those people already have their spaces where they spent time and such so i don't see any redditors coming here because we don't have a system that allows them to manipulate discourse like they do with upvotes/downvotes. 2# won't happen either because what the hell could happen that the answer would be to shut down the forums permanently. Number 3# is the most realistic. I'd say the day that the people from the writers guild stop posting articles is when the place will lose steam.RGT will either:
I'm gunning for #3 myself, but #1 is most likely. Snarkily quote this post in a decade and prove me wrong!
- Become completely overrun with the ResetEra/NeoGAF/Reddit Gaming audience of angry, miserable, socially-psychotic millennials, who'll continue to age into irrelevance as they argue about politics on a video game forum;
- Get into some controversy so bad that the forum part of the site will be shut down, though the articles (perhaps sans comments) and the Repo will remain; or
- Remain active for a few years, but slowly wither out until only a few dedicated regulars are left – who, eventually, will part ways, with some keeping up on Discord and others being simply forgotten.
It's gonna get worseIs it not, now?
It's grown on me too.I really hope it's still around by then.
I love this place.
Everyone loves Waffles, proven fact.I really hope it's still around by then.
I love this place.
Real belgian ones, not that Eggo crapEveryone loves Waffles, proven fact.
this is the first comment that's not a meme that made a smile on my faceIt's grown on me too.
Not just because I get to rant about all the games I've spent all my life playing, either;
It's the only community I've really been able to connect with, on this level.
I'm already here, let me tell you about when 2600 games were new. That shit was awesome, I promiseIt will become OGT fo Old Guys Talk
That's the part that always worries me. Those big companies have been rampaging for a long time now.nintendo among others finally catch wind and at most the repo and the forum get taken off leaving perhaps only the articles in some capacity
Tbh I don’t mind the thought, perhaps because of how platforms like twitter, TikTok and such have turned out. Smaller communities are easier to manage, also there’s just something cozy about smaller sites.I think the future of the internet in general (especially in regards to piracy) will consist of small walled-off communities in a sea of bots, corporate websites and AI generated slop. RGT could be one of those communities if it sticks around.
