What were your favourite Movie tie-in games that were also genuinely good games?

Ahem

Alien VS Predator (The arcade one, not the mid SNES one) is a cookie-cutter yet fun Beat em up

Aliens got an Arcade mix between Contra and a Beat em up, and if you wonder yup they kept the Mini Mecha, sadly no "Get away from her you Bitch" sample
Double Dragons's Movie maybe one of the movies of all time, but give it props to Neo-Geo to savage a great arcade/PSX KOF clone that i enjoyed even more than KOF 97 in the same console

Gremlins 2 on NES is a colorful recreation of the movie wwith everything that made Sunsoft your non Capcom or Konami get go for licensed games, curiously, while it may be only me, the game starts Hard when ending easy (You start with petty tomatoes that barely leave your sprite and end with a projectile that creats an AOE wave)

The Goonies on Famicom, some valid critics on level design and obnoxious "Save th kids to not be sent back to level 1 without warning" aside, i loved the hell out of it in a VCR with bunch of NEs games integrated, i feared it was merely nostalgia, but i played it nowadays and it still holds

And Goldeneye007... on Wii (Gets guns aimed) i tried to play the OG one, but being used to "Left stick to strafe and Right to turn" i couldn't get past the reversed controllers, the Wii on the other hand gives you the chance to play normally or use a controller if you don't like the Wiimote controllers

Here's another one I loved. I loved the game and the film and found both to be underrated/underappreciated. I still remember being a kid and getting the Pizza Hut promotion that they were running for the film.

Van Helsing for PS2.

Speed Racer (atleast the DS version, I only played that one)

I played both the DS and the PS2 version (Wii version is just an enhanced PS2 version btw) and I can say, yeah the DS game is good too, although the one standout part of the vehicular combat has kind of been lost with it, although it does focus more on racing and stunts in it's place to make up for it, different kind of game, still good.

Also, try either the PS2 or Wii version too, either one works, they are mostly identical, both are pretty good games.

Aliens vs Predator arcade is great, but since the movie that was planned at the time was never made it's not really a movie tie-in. The AvP movie ended up coming out ten years after the game.
And yeah, it's a shame the SNES game is a mediocre original instead of a port of the arcade game. Konami's Aliens arcade game is really good too (in general they made solid licensed titles), and I agree on the arcade Double Dragon VS fighter, it's quality.

Lots of good picks like Alien vs Predator, Sweet Home, etc.

The 2009 Avatar game (based on the James Cameron movie) was actually pretty decent. After seeing Way of Water I realized a well-done Avatar game could look stunning. I know there was a new one in 2023 but it had very mixed reviews.

and finally, this last game is not good but it's a nostalgic favorite for me

I almost put Ghost in the Shell for PS1, but that isn't particularly based on any of the movies.

This may or may not have been a good game but I have some nostalgia for this game

I'm glad you said this for me. I hesitated because it's...not great lol but I love it nonetheless and had a unironically good time playing the PSN port on my PS5 recently ::winnie
