What was your first PC game?

We had a few games for Commodore 64 when I was growing up but they were all edutainment titles (one of them was Dungeon of the Algebra Dragons).

Oh! Actually we had a Commodore before pc!
I as a kid, not knowing a thing about it, always used its feature to set color and bgcolor of each character when typing, and painted childish drawing on screen with it!
Also we had Frogger game for it too!

I remember playing those Polar Bear games and it was SO damn nostalgic seeing it now
And those Diner Dash games, also the game is 20 years ago already? (I thought it was at least 10 but 20? Damn…)

The first random PC game I had was Pokemon Project Studio, sort of a digital art maker/kit based on the early anime and the RBY games. Doesn't hold a candle to the mainline games in anyway but if you like digital art it was good for 1999. Other than that I remember owning the PC version of Resident Evil 4 and playing that mouse & keyboard style.

Diablo 2 was the best game ever created IMO
i played from patch 1.08 to 1.13
they accidently made that game perfectly and then ruined it eventually by trying to "fix" it
now they forgot the recipe to make a good game
Blizzard sux. RIP

Well, not counting games that came bundled with win98, we had a cd with many small games!
Many of them were from Microsoft Entertainment Pack, and some were indie... (not that we could tell the difference at that time!)
I still have them, and here's list of them with their screenshot as a memento of them... what times it was!

Later levels was as hard as hell!

Balls of each color should be gone in their matching color ground, we can only control the gates.

Three games in one! was pretty neat!

You can say, all of them were my first pc games ever!
I wonder if some of them can be found in internet anymore...
This is so cool!
To think MS wants to charge people for Solitaire on Windows these days.

prince of persia
could I beat the first guard?
did I play the first level up until the first guard bazillion times?
was I in awe of my aunt's mad esport skillz seeing her play a later level with MULTIPLE guards?
nobody will ever know...

That's so accurate, I'm still bad at Prince of Persia unfortunately
Hope your aunt is doing well though, sounds like she's a great gamer

I'm ancient, so my first games that I actually owned were on a floppy disk, which was a pack of Asteroids, Battlezone, Centipede, Missile Command, and Tempest (which I played very little of because even in 1994 my PC clocked too fast to play it, the other games didn't have this problem). I also had what I think was a bootleg that contained SKI FREE and Chip's Challenge that a lot of computer shops back in the day handed out. There are pictures of me from before I was old enough to remember it 'playing' Wolfenstein 3D in my father's lap, but that hardly counts.

The first I ever asked for was a Shareware disc that I believe may have been labelled "PC SUPER GAMER" that had a huge amount of both DOS games and (then pretty new) Windows games that didn't require you to exit Windows to play, along with a bunch of audio files showing off new formats, desktop backgrounds, and so on. A number of pretty good games had fairly extensive shareware demos on it, notably The Lost Vikings, One Must Fall 2097, Heretic, Highway Hunter, Flying Tigers, and some games that introduced me to genres I wouldn't have otherwise known about at the time - like strategy games, for example. Not sure if anyone else has ever seen this, the front of the disc was yellow and had a character on it who looked vaguely like 90s X-Men Cyclops holding a gun.

The first I ever bought for myself would have been around 96 or 97, which was exclusively because it had a demo of the upcoming Sonic & Knuckles Collection for PC. I don't believe this was PC Gamer since I don't believe they published in Australia, but my cousin had recently introduced me to Sonic 1 and we'd rented Sonic 2 from a video shop, so when I saw that I got very excited and saved for a month to be able to buy the magazine. Also introduced me to some other 90s winners like Blood & Magic.

The first PC game I ever played was some RC car racing one on my dad's Mac. I have no idea what it was called. You drove around a neighborhood and collected stuff.
I suppose Skyrim was the first game I exclusively played on my own PC, after I got one that could do more than sluggishly browsing the internet.

Somehow I always enjoyed playing console more. It just works and feels nice. The only thing that makes me want to pick the PC version of game over the console one is mods.

I have a vague memory of playing Diablo 2... I think a friend of mine lent me the CD, I installed it, played it a bunch, but he wanted the disc back the next day, so I was basically left with an installed game that didn't work, since I didn't know about certain... solutions, back then.

How did Blizzard ruin it?

....Er, I'm actually super late into PC games tbh... and yeah, I don't really have much experience.
My first was a VN, but I can't remember the title....
I'm honestly kinda picky about the games I like playing though. Mostly RPGs.
I did like Eiyuu Senki though. Simple and not too serious, but still fun.

This is a difficult one. Because the first PC i used, wasn't an IBM, it was an Atari.

First PC game, would probably be either PacMan, Defender, Fort Apocalypse, Joust, Asteroids, Frogger, or something equally in that time range, in or about 1986.
