Although I have always been a person who grew up with consoles, every now and then I played games on my parents' PC. Civilization III, the games included with Mulino Bianco and Ferrero snacks, the browser games on the CN and Playhouse Disney websites.

However, if I had to consider a game started for the first time on MY computer, I would say GTA IV. One of my favorite games, and one of the games I consider far too under-regarded these days.

I can't remember exactly but its one of these 2:
Age of Empire II

Colin McRae Rally 1(Man how I love this Subaru Legacy still today)

If we're discounting Minesweeper and the like, I think it must have been a demo for Age of Empires 1 that I believe came as a bonus disc with some version of Windows 98 or something.
Played the everloving hell out of that on the family computer.
Fun fact: I only discovered this year, after 16 years of playing it and always losing, to understand how Minesweeper works xD

Now I never miss a game again.

I would love to play Age of Empire sometime, having also tried Age of Mythology.
You absolutely should, can't recommend it enough! AoE 2 in particular is an absolutely timeless game - still play a round with friends every now and then after all these years. It's in that Diablo 2 category of evergreen entertainment.

Word Munchers and THe Oregeon Trail for me ^^ they were my very first 2 PC Games growing up:P

There was also this one Pac Man clone I used to play in my elementary school years in the 5th grade,it was called "MUnch Man" and than there was another Pac Man Clone called Jawbreakers:P

Ankh.

I spent years trying to remember its name until I stumbled upon it on an Adventure walkthroughs website.

I go way back, growing up in the 80s and 90s, and being kinda poor... Early on i didn't "buy" games, i traded with people and got copies of games. Eventually in my mid teens, i did start to buy though, although i targeted bargain bins mostly. The first game i remember buying was Amazon: Guardians of Eden. Which was a point and click adventure, one which i really liked a lot back then, because the developers understood the problems with a lot of adventure games at the time, and they made sure that you don't get stuck.

The second game that i can remember buying was Veil of Darkness, which was sort of an isometric style adventure game, that also had "Diablo Like" combat sections, it was kind of different at the time. I wasn't able to complete that game until years later using a walkthrough but, i still really liked that one.
Both of these are available on GOG and steam now, and I'm surprised how many people still swear they hold up.

I have this one, as well as it's sequels. On GOG.

For me, it was Treasure Mountain. I played it at a friend's house and I thought it was fun at the time (though I imagine it probably hasn't aged well). It was one of those educational games that was part of the Super Sleuths series back in the 90's, and it required a bit of reading and math skills to get through. I think it stood out to me that unlike console games like Super Mario, it required me to stop and use the old noggin instead of pure twitch skills. Definitely something unique that you wouldn't see on a Nintendo or Sega system.

Also the hunchback of notre dame cds that also came from some junk food aand the cartoon network browser games

I hope you can; besides playing it alone in the house I also went to play it LAN in a cyber cafe with my brother in law and his friends, good laughs.
I also played Mythology, and you made me remember this game too. Very fun, has more ages to go through than AoEII, IIRC, from prehistoric to nanotechnology.

According to my parents it was Heretic but i have no memory of it, the first one i actually remember playing was Age of Empires 2

Star Wars: TIE Fighter

I got it in a combo pack that came with X-Wing, TIE Fighter and X-Wing Vs. TIE Fighter (all using the XvT Engine so it ran and looks especially nice). My grandad even got me a Top Gun branded Thrustmaster to go along with it.

I got NOTHING done that summer and it was the bast damn summer EVER.

Well, not counting games that came bundled with win98, we had a cd with many small games!
Many of them were from Microsoft Entertainment Pack, and some were indie... (not that we could tell the difference at that time!)
I still have them, and here's list of them with their screenshot as a memento of them... what times it was!

Later levels was as hard as hell!

Maxwell's Maniac (MS)

Balls of each color should be gone in their matching color ground, we can only control the gates.

You can say, all of them were my first pc games ever!
I wonder if some of them can be found in internet anymore...

Edit:
Now they can be found! 😁
I have uploaded them to Game Share Hub except dos ones which i don't have them currently, but those are easy to find in internet.

Battle Race 3D and Nascar Racers in Windows 98. Those are my first two "big games" for PC.
Back then my games have just preinstalled ones like Minesweeper, Freecell, Heart and Solitaire.
I was surprised that Nascar Racers also has "The Animation" which has total 24 episodes.
