What was the first console to "wow" you?

Believe it or not, I was never much of a gamer.

I was content with playing my NES until it broke, then the MegaDrive with my best friend whenever I happened to visit her... and, ultimately, whatever my junker PC could run.

It wasn't much, but it was enough.

But then, the GameCube was announced and it rocked my fucking brains out!

Not only was it being both parodied and referenced on all my favorite shows (from "The Fairly OddParents" to "Drake & Josh"), but it was also purple (PURPLE!).

A game console was being made in my favorite color! Do you even know how insanely cool that was for kid Sammy?

It wasn't merely interested — I had swallowed hook, line and sinker!

Of course, taking a single look at the price tag was enough to tell me that I wasn't going to be owning one anytime soon, but it remained an object of my deep desire for a long time afterwards.

What console was that for you?

Game Boy Advance, for 5 year old me the 2d sprites art looked pretty cool when at that age i was used to 3D/Flash games

Nintendo DS, the two screens and the touch screen, the idea you could "touch" to make something happen in-game was totally amazing for me.

Wii, when my parents gave me my first Wii it was amazing, I mean, the motion controllers, Mario games and that menu which look like old TVs

I was very young to understand that Wii have retrocompatiblility with GameCube, while I've been growing up I've finding hidden gems and amazing GC games, so for me is Wii, because I still saying 'wow'

SEGA Dreamcast in 9/9/99

The smooth frame-rate, vibrant graphics, much less pixel artifacts, large seamless environments, fast gameplay, near arcade-perfect ports, online browsing and online multiplayer feature to name a few.

PSP being a portable PS2 blew my mind at the time. Then I got pretty hyped for Vita. AYN Thor was the last thing to wow me.
Maybe I'm a handhelds guy.

It was a bit battered, but worked perfectly.

Really underrated machine.

For me the Ps2 and the Psp able to play DvD and playing video games this our entertainment of 2000s and also the gba and the pspI love those handheld

Lately I was wow on Ds and Ps3 of plenty of games I thought I will have few but nope.

PSP surprised me too when i got the opportunity of emulate it on mobile for the first time

PSP is amazing too, I had the opportunity of playing in one, when my mom and I used to live in other city, very far of my currently home, in that age the son of my mom's boyfriend had a PS3 and a PSP, almost always he lent my his PSP and I used to play crash bandicoot tag team and sonic rivals

We grew up around gamers, our brother and father, so nothing really wowed us (it was all too familiar). And maybe it's embarrassing to admit, but the Wii is actually what captured our interest.
We started with childish games, but our brother introduced us to Fire Emblem and the rest was history.
