What Was Announced at State of Play 2025?

It’s clear 2025 that is here to make a statement, as it was the case with today’s State of Play that streamed a few hours ago. This year has not been shy with major game announcements, as evident by the reveals of Mafia: The Old Country as well as the new Ninja Gaiden.

Today we highlight a couple of noteworthy titles that caught our eye!

Mindseye, a new game by ex-GTA devs

Now be warned, if this author was let loose with their GTA-gushing, you wouldn’t hear the end of it so we’ll keep it concise here. After Leslie Benzies left Rockstar, their future was quite uncertain but now things seem to be looking up with this gorgeous, cyberpunk-style GTA-like adventure. The story trailer seems quite promising and we can only hope to hear from Dan Houser as well!

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is officially revealed

This game was already teased a year ago alongside 4 other potential Sega revivals, but today marks the day it’s officially revealed. Shinobi has actually had a surprisingly long history, as it made the jump to 3D much like its friendly competitor, Ninja Gaiden. But this game will be strictly a 2D affair so it begs the question if Sega is considering a full-blown revival of the franchise beyond this one-off title. We can only hope!

New Sonic Racer

While it is somewhat disappointing that the crossover aspect is skipping another entry, we can’t really complain as lot of us here at RGT are big fans of the sonic racing affair, including this very author! It’s also quite nice to see this particular entry borrowing mechanics from the Riders trilogy, creating its own internal crossover but via game mechanics. And who can say no to Jet the Hawk coming back in all his hoverboard glory? Consider us sold!

Delta gets official release date, coming August 28th

While this release date was already leaked not too long ago, it’s still nice to get a confirmation of the release of this hotly anticipated remake of the much-beloved PS2 classic. Indeed, going through Snake Eater yet again in this loving recreation of the 2004 adventure will be a sight to be hold. A lot of love and care seems to be put into it.

New Onimusha: Way of the Sword trailer alongside announcement of Onimusha 2 remaster

If you traveled back in time telling others that there would be a new onimusha alongside a remaster, you’d have your head examined, but what a time to be alive! While it would be nice to get a remaster of the third game starring Jean Reno, it’s really hard to complain here! This is already a lot more than we were expecting, we can’t wait!

A New Digimon Story Game

Alright, NOW it’s starting to feel like the game industry is just yanking our chain, but this is not a prank, not a joke and not a dream. We’re really, truly getting another Digimon Story entry! And the best part? Beetlemon is here, baby! (As tipped by the wonderful @Tonberry )

I'm pretty excited for most of these games in State of Play. Other than what's already mentioned, here's the other games or updates that was also exciting and interesting

Monster Hunter Wilds: they're bringing a new title update that'll add Mizutsune and a release date (28 Feb)

Lost Soul Aside: now this is kinda crazy, this is when Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy had a baby (release date May 30 2025)

Tides of Annihilation: the gameplay is just…wow! Definitely gonna die a lot to master this game

Hell Is Us: this is also pretty crazy. It's a post apocalyptic sci-fi, action adventure, released on September 4 2025

Darwin's Paradox, I'd like to see more trailer for this game. It looks quite interesting, no release date yet

I've tried to add other games and trailers, but the limit of the media is 5 so I had to erase it all. I could only include these for now

Except only Shinobi : Art of Vengeance , there is nothing that captured my interest .

Its great that Onimusha 2 gets a re-release (because the onimusha trilogy is underrated and awesome) , but it's still nothing interesting there that hits home .

Not even a horror-game again lately . And im really starving for a nice new horror-game akin to Call of Cthulhu : Dark corners of the earth , ObsCure or even a try of a spiritual Successor to Silent Hill or wacky as Illbleed .

Even more arcadey singleplayer-games, like from the Dreamcast-era as an example , should be a nice breath of fresh and bring back some excitement instead of more open world stuff that i wont play it through or even play the half of the game and get extremly bored like most open-world games do .

What scary as nothing of that interests me what so ever. I know what games Im looking foward to coming this year.

Subnautica 2
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envision
LUNAR Remastered Collection
Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era
DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake "steam"

That´s the only things im interested in all these things talked about on state of play just not relevant to me. Not even Monster hunter which I been a fan of sense the first game. But wild is not doing it for me probably because the past monster hunter games just been way way way to easy and kind of strayed away a little.

Didn't know there was a new Rune Factory, will it be better than 5?

Not only is Delta getting it's release date, but they also revealed that Snake vs Monkey is returning for PS and PC versions, while the Xbox version is getting...Snake vs Bomberman?

That latter one honestly sounds pretty exciting. I love bomberman.

It's pretty cool, I never expected Snake vs Monkey to make a return and I definitely didn't expect Snake vs Bomberman. As long as we get the Secret Theater camera angles with Eva, I think its actually just a 100% remake with no cut content for once.
