What type of Character, Build, or Playstyle do you gravitate towards?

Whenever I can, I like to go for a "Badass Normal" build, which usually amounts to little magic and high strength and agility.

  • Fighting: Grappler, because so many people pick rushdown, and grapplers are a rushdown's worse enemy. Yes, run at the giant guy, little man; it's not like I'll take ¼ of your lifebar in 2 seconds or anything.
Can confirm, Grappler's are stressful as hell to fight as rushdown, as it's one of the only matchups where you can't just step on the gas when you have momentum. It's usually a rushdown main's first real roadblock since you can't unga your way to a win and have to learn to bait/play neutral.

Anything that isn't a ninja/elf, the speedy little characters. I can't ever stand to play them for some reason, give me a musclebound slab of Protagonist, like this gladiator:

Orrrr just anything with a revolver, or single-action rifle. Or a Gunlance/gunsword, that'll work.

Since I play mostly RPGs, I tend to gravitate towards what I consider to be the "best of man" traits.

-Straightforward, so weapons with simple mechanics/skills/style is always a priority, like choosing a double-handed sword instead of staves or bows.

-Strong willed, so with games that allows you to build your character, I always leans towards Str/End or it's equivalent.

-Brave, so I spend most of the currency or it's equivalent on my own character first, so I can one-shot most of the mobs while leaving most of the party members lacking and constantly getting themselves killed pathetically.

-Charming, so I woo every available women I encounter in the game, if the game allows it. I don't blindly follow my "third head" tho, so I don't turn my character into this unrepentant perv who chase skirts all day.

-Heroic, so I ALWAYS try to solve as much sidequests as I can stomach before going with the main story mission.

And last but not least, R-I-C-H. I'll loot every objects I can get my hands on and sold most but the bare essentials, like a single cheese wheel to keep me company in my travels.

So yeah, basically, I aim to create a character I WISH I was. If I'm playing Co-Op shooter with classes, I'd stick to medic, because it's easier to see your teammates getting downed rather than aim at the enemy farther away. If I'm playing a fighting game, I'd choose a character with the easiest basic attacks to combo into one another, because trying to aim for a special attacks just feels tedious.

Aka, a "Basic Bitch" with delusion of grandeur.

Always human/fighter/good-natured/high persuasion in CRPGs. I find it incredibly satisfying when I can talk things out instead of fighting.

Typical sword and shield guy with normal/average build (not too weak n' fast; not too slow n' strong).

I have always liked being clad in Heavy armor with a big swords and be like see that dragon over there I'm gonna kill that dragon. In multiplayer games I love playing the roles that tank damage the most for the team. but sometimes I like to play the dainty wizard or rouge it's a great change of pace though a rare one.

  • Custom character (general): Cute woman. I'm not looking at some generic dude's butt for the rest of this game.
Most of my friends are like this, but I have this thing in my head that when I play a game the character I'm directly controlling in like a version of me inside the game's world, like my avatar. So it's weird to play as a woman.
But I always choose only females to fight by my side, so my parties are usually little harems, lol.

I'm the type that carries a shotgun as my primary and a sniper rifle as my secondary. I like playing with the extremes, even if it means my build isn't optimized. Part of the reason why I enjoyed Evergrace: Sharline was my ranged bowman while Darius became a hammer bruiser.

I always use spear AOE with strength and agility build, it's feels good to play in most game i played

And the character IS our avatar, I really don't understand when the game asks your name and people would rather search for some "canon" name that originated from some drama cd nobody cares about or something like that. Most times I only play female characters when replaying or if the character customization is limited and I really dislike the male character's design.

Some people prefer having a set protagonist in a story rather an avatar. Like reading a novel rather than playing a role. I flip-flop on the issue myself. For me, it depends on the game: tone of the narrative, how the protagonist is portrayed, and if their is a character creator or not.

What type of gameplay, skillset, or character do you favor in games that offer multiple playstyles?

I generally favor hyper aggressive mobility and rushdown, anything that allows me to apply constant pressure or dictate the pace of gameplay. I also prefer having a large variety of options, even if it means sacrificing health or raw damage.

I like sword/weapon wielders characters who are technical and have an extremely high skill floor. I just tend to pick whatever seems the most complicated in any game I play, it's a good way to test how deep the game's systems are.

Smash: Ike. Good priority, strong attacks, and has a very useful Up+B.
I've always mained Ike since I started playing Brawl as a kid, I cannot get over how cool they made him look like in the Subspace Emissary cutscenes. Never played any of his games though (or Fire Emblem in general)

I guess the best way I can describe my type would be "technical".
I enjoy playing characters with a lot of moving parts (metaphorically and literally), having as much options on the field and being able to react accordingly to the challenge.

-In Monster Hunter I like to play with the Charge Blade, since the community calls it the swiss blade of the game.

-In RPGs, if possible, a "jack of all trades" is always fun to play with, always having a solution on the battle to an enemy's attack.

-In fighting games, usually "power-up" or "snowball" characters, they get stronger as the match goes on and unlock new skills to use. (I.E. Ultimate Gohan, Jamie (SF6), Susano'o (Blazblue)

And I think that's it, honorable mention goes to Wayfarer from Dragon's Dogma 2, the game reconizes it as THE class for the Arisen, as it can equip all weapons, all armor and all skills in the game without restrictions, but at the cost of having the lowest vocation stats from all the vocations, so a class for the players that want to master the game.

You are missing out on the chance to have a custom wifu in addition to that harem. This is the only woman in the game that will fit every little preference you have.

Based Iaido and May enjoyer

I also want to add in RPGs/ARPGs with heavy character customization that if I'm already familiar with the game I'll sometimes do "Cosplay" or themed builds to spice up repeated playthroughs. Wearing gear dropped from enemies and RPing as a turncoat soldier, or just trying to make a character from another game. I was doing a Hayabusa themed run of Nioh 2 when Ninja Gaiden 4 news dropped.

Speed. I don't like staying still, I like attacking fast and pissing off quickly if needed. I also really like bows, I feel like I'm the only person who ever uses bows in the Soulsborne games. Like, using them for the entire game. x) I prefer dodging to blocking. I also prefer attacking a single target instead of AoE. I try to be sneaky, but I fail more than succeed. I'm really not good at stealth in games. Dx I often times end up as a glass canon in action RPGs and such.

I don't play many fighting games, but I think rushdown is my type? I like to be in your face and relentless.

For racing games, handling and acceleration all the way. Ideally something smaller and nimble too. Or old rally cars. For car combat games I prefer something on the balanced side, maybe slightly favoring speed.

As for shooty games, I prefer medium-long range weapons. Sniper rifles require a little too much precision for my taste, but DMR rifles are the shit. Really, any type of semi-auto rifle makes me happy. A good shotgun for close range encounters is also a plus. Specific to survival horror, pistols are usually my primary.

For hack and slash games I tend to go AoE, as long as it isn't terrible at one on one combat.

I don't play many RTS games, but when I do I'm a 100% turtle. I've beaten very few RTS games because I just want to sit in place and become impenetrable. x) As for the type of army, medium-long range. My goal is everything is dead before it reaches my defenses.

Finally, for JRPGs I tend to go for balanced characters. More often than not I like to have one powerful mage and/or healer on my team though.

That brings back memories. I didn't like Spoony's other videos that much, but his tabletop stories/rants were great. Too bad uhhh... whatever the fuck that mess was happened with him. I can't get enough of tabletop stories.

my heart is drawn to bad builds

Damage over time, lifesteal, esoteric combos that accomplish what something much easier can do more reliably. It's not something I intentionally do either.

If I get invested in something then I go for the easy, reliable picks. If I'm putting 500+ hours into something I don't want to end every game session contemplating walking into traffic

I tend to often go for the " tank " type. Heavy Armor or Shield. Endure & punish ennemy mistakes.

Yeah i don't care for videos outside of Counter Monkey.

As for what happened to Noah, he more or less got an emotional breakdown with his depression and just faded from the scene... which is too bad because i rather enjoyed most of those Counter Monkey videos.

But a lot of Youtube channels, burn a few years and then burn out. Not exactly a great business model.
