Simple thread idea. Feeling stumped? Suffering from choice fatigue? Unable to find the best next game for you? Ask away in this thread!

Describe an experience you’re loooking for and hopefully someone here can provide consolation.

Mech game for the GBA, DS, PSP or even GB/GBC and SNES. One for ANY of those platforms, not all of them. Just feel like playing something fun. Also no Armored Core or Macross please, I already played them (and loved them, Armored Core Last Raven Portable especially)

Oh, good idea for a thread!

So I've been trying to find my way into Survivalcraft games and aside from genre-adjacent stuff like Dragon Quest Builders 2 (absolute banger btw) I haven't been able to make any of 'em click.

Subnautica seemed like a good go-to, since it's singleplayer (and progression-focused) and I find multiplayer pretty stressful, but then I had my first run-in with a Leviathan and that terrified me way too much to continue. 😅

Any suggestions for a good singleplayer Survivalcraft game?

Why not give Forager a go? It’s quite task oriented.

Well there's Front Mission: Gun Hazard, or Gleylancer? (Both on the Repo.)

I can highly recommend the Front Mission series!
If you're more in the mood for action-oriented gameplay, there's Gun Hazard:

Or for tactics, there's the main series:

Oh this looks neat!
Seems like there's some idle-game elements in there as well by the looks of it, that'd be another genre I've never explored - I'll check it out, thank you!

Necesse
Think Terraria meets Don't Starve (kinda) meets Dwarf Fortress
The game is still in Early Access I think? Regardless it's quite fun and gets updated. Also has mod support.

If you're bored of today's racing games because they're too easy, then try Daytona USA or Rally games

For example, Top Gear Rally on the GBA. This was not only pretty fun but also a great technical achievement even for a GBA

Then there's the
-V-Rally series (also on GBA)
-Sega Rally series
-Colin McRae series
-Pac-Man World Rally (pretty underrated despite some flaws)
-WRC series
And so much more!

I can highly recommend the Front Mission series!

Hope you enjoy 👍. Yeah it’s got also Zelda like elements and it’s quite nice. Doesn’t take long either.

Can I throw a curve ball in? Racing Lagoon

I just started playing it myself but it has a game play flow like a mech game. You race, and if you win to take a part from the losers vehicle that you can use to upgrade your vehicle. Story in-between the races.

Maybe?

That's just peak Squaresoft, imagine if they did these games nowadays

I'm sold::dkapproves

I've been stuck playing survivalcraft games. Palworld, 7 days to die, Core Keepers, Don't Starve, and occasional ARK (Conan Exiles was removed from gamepass so can't play that anymore).

If you need action, I always recommend Like a dragon/Yakuza series. I can't wait till Pirate Yakuza is released.

Other games i've been playing are the Xuan Yuan Sword and Sword and Fairy. Be forewarned, the gate of firmament is Machine translated and HAS GAME BREAKING BUGS!!! and was bundle with Initial2 the next stage, a mediocre hack and slash (but it was on sale for 7$).

If you like 2D mega man, You can play the azure striker GUNVOLT series...or Blaster Master series (except the megadrive one), or even the Shantae series. I own a lot of Inti create games and Wayforward....if you played them, you definitely know why.

If you want some top down zelda clone games. I recommend Cross Code.

If you want to play an unique rougelite game that is not like any other, Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey. It is best described as a Boogle RPG.

Last, if you want a Mech Based game...Zone of the Enders. Two word: HIDEO KOJIMA!!!

I bought a Switch two days ago. I've never owned a Nintendo device before. What game (singular) would you recommend to someone who literally has no idea about Nintendo games?

Please, no platformers. In general I don't like them, there are a few exceptions but it is a genre that I still consider among the worst.

What kind of games do you like other than platformers?

Based on their previous avatar, maybe something similar to vice city.

Hmmmmmm maybe try hyrule warriors?

This is quite likely the most cliché, basic answer to that particular question theoretically possible, but man... the game is genuinely really good: Breath of the Wild.
(Also still better than the sequel in my mind)

I do have plenty more out there suggestions - the Switch has tons of gems on it - but if you really were to only go for a single game, it probably ought to be that one.

I would say platform games are pretty much the only exception. I have no problem with sports games, but I would prefer people not to recommend games like FIFA, NBA or similar :ROFLMAO:

What do you mean by my previous avatar? I still see the same one, was it changed?

I saw the DE Bundle on the store but I'm on the fence about it, I'd like to replay the GTA games on a handheld, but I don't like the idea of giving Rockstar money for those shitty cash grabs. I'd rather play them on PC, I have the older versions on Steam.

Yes, you had a Candy Suxxx avatar a few days ago. Now your avatar is a character… I’m ashamed to admit I don’t recall the name at the moment.
About DE, go with what you’re comfortable with. As a steam deck user, replaying all the GTA games (yes even the three psp games, which I do adore) has been quite a treat! But yes, R* does not deserve any money.

If you want a mainline Nintendo game there's actually quite a lot of good games to pick from, it depends on your own personal tastes really. I'm not a consolewar type but it has a huge, huge, library.. I think Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is quite fun, as well as Mario Kart. You can't go wrong with Mario Kart!

Also, I know you don't like platformers but that's what a lot of first party Nintendo games tend to be orientated around. You should try them! They're made to be fun not frustrating!

Ah I see, so action games and open world? Nintendo Switch got quite a lot of that

Especially with the The Legend of Zelda games (3D and top down), Kirby and the Forgotten Land

For action stuff
-Smash Bros Ultimate
-Hades
-Splatoon 3
-Metroid Dread
-Mario and Luigi: Brothership
-Dead Cells
And the others

I would say platform games are pretty much the only exception. I have no problem with sports games, but I would prefer people not to recommend games like FIFA, NBA or similar :ROFLMAO:
That's reasonable, never liked EA Sports games nowadays (some of them that is)

They fucked themselves up after removing the Liberty City mod
