im actually curious, right now im saving up to buy a nintendo switch and its mainly because i wanna play the new game : tomodachi life living the dream...

ive asked my friends and siblings which one i should get, nintendo v2, or either the lite. my cousin said "you should get the nintendo v2, the lite is not good"
but ive asked other people and they said get the lite...get the version 2...a few of them say the lite is bad, the lite is good. IM SO CONFUSED because yeah, who wouldnt when people say stuff like that??!?! i only need it for light gaming, like maybe when i get back home after a long day of school, waste time alone etc. and also, easy to bring around anywhere when traveling.

SO i need your opinions, lite or nintendo v2?

A Wii. A Wii U technically has more processing power and amplifies it's emulated internal Wii through vWii to allow for a better emulation of consoles like the N64 and PS1. But the Wii is easier to work with and doesn't eat your USBs like lunchables.

you mean Switch 2? cause i don't see a point in buying a switch 1 now
trust me you're better off with a switch 2, I wish I had one since emulation only covers switch 1
idk how much you care for games other than tomodachi life, but you like mario zelda starfox metroid and etc absolutely get a switch 2

Switch OLED or Switch 2. If you can afford it grab the Switch 2. There is a good chance Switch 2 is going up in price in the future.

BUT if you have a good gaming rig, emulate the darn thing.

Are you going to dock it? Yes? Get V2 or OLED.
Are you not docking at all? And just want a small portable? Get the Lite.
Also, Switch lite has a lower price, and on sites like e-bay you can find them used and in mint condition and around 100-130 €/$ (I got mine like this and it works wonderfully); answer to the questions above and also see how much you want to pay.
If I should choose now my first Switch, I would like the 2 (it costs more, sure, but I would be able to play both switch1 and switch2 games), but it's lots of money and a user above says the screen is not so beautiful if compared to oled switch1 (BUT you can play newer games, if you care for them).
Tough decision...

Actually, the OP didn't say anything about emulation. Do you mean the virtual console from Nintendo?

As being said, it will depend if you want to play portable only or you want to use it on TV from time to time. There is no "best" Switch. If you get the regular one, it will be cheaper, if you get the OLED it will be more expensive but the screen will be better, if you get the Lite, you get the cheapest option but the screen will be smaller (which is the best size for me), and you can only use it as a portable device.

Mint condition for 100-130€? that's the price of them completely new. What country are you from? I am checking now Merukari and I find them for 70€ more or less, in pristine condition.

No! I meant (if somewhat facetiously), literally buying a Wii or a Wii U (and then softmodding it). Friends don't let friends get a Switch 2 (or whatever OP implies by a Switch V2).

If they aren't implying purchasing a Switch 2, than the OLED is the superior at home option (though, has a greater battery life than the Switch 2) while the the Lite is obviously designed for on the go. However, the older models of the original Switch (released between specific dates) are the ones that are the easiest to tamper with and jailbreak.

I think the OP didn't say anything about softmodding. Buying a Wii U in western markets is a waste of money in my humble opinion, people want to charge 100€ or more for them, while last december I bought one in Japan for 35€ complete and in pristine condition, because that's the real price of the console.

Modding a Switch for playing better his original games is ok because overclocking features are very good if used with care, but tampering with Switch for playing everything for free should not be encouraged, and I hope the OP has not that in mind.

There are lots of old consoles and games for playing, but Switch is still a "current" gen, even if Switch 2 has been released. If those games are your own backups it's also ok, I think positively about preservation.

I think that with a good enough PC there's little to no need to get a Wii nor a Wii U.

I've read that the Nintendo Switch is technically a 8th gen console like the Wii U but then again it may have changed since.

I bought a used SW lite for $50, best price for a handheld in the market to be honest.

To play Tomodachi Life.
If they wanna play this game it's just their choice but that's not the question of the topic.

It's like someone asking which pair of baskets is the best for walking and someone says that they'd better use the car instead.

A Nintendo Switch would be a good start or get the Switch 2.

If your just getting it for this one game get whatever is cheapest tomodachi life runs on the switch 1 and 2
