It really is wild how much 3DS' just kind of exploded in price out of nowhere. At least with the PSP it became sort of a meme/fashion accessory of sorts but nothing happened with the 3DS lol

From what I understand, a few years back (pre-covid) there was a sort of consecutive series of Youtubers aping a video by a really popular Youtuber who went on to say things like "The 3DS is the greatest emulation console" or "the 3DS is the low-key best hidden gem". Something to that effect. ("Hidden" lol. As if.).
There were a ton of vids.

Resellers grabbed them from all over in bulk.
Prices shot up.
If you notice, most of the ebay listings are from lots of the things. With sellers having multiple accounts with dozens of the devices each.

In addition, word on the street (friends in the warehouse biz) is that GameStop in the U.S. is planning to launch a franchise of "Retro" stores and are scooping things like DS, 3DS, OG consoles, etc. to create stock for the stores. That could also be driving up prices as well. Can't speak to how accurate that is, but I could see that, too.

i kinda miss the era where developers make with what they can on the available hardware of the time. These days almost all releases can be played on major platforms
