I know there are a lot of megaman fans here, and I also wanna get into these games.
And I think it's a good moment now that every Megaman collection is on sale in Steam.
What should I start with?, I did my own research but I also wanna get some opinions in here.

::thank-you

my favorite collections are Mega man Zero collection and the Battle network collection.

But I would say the first Legazy collection or first mega man X collection.

Might as well start at the beginning.

Steam winter sale starts on the 18th, I wonder if these would go even lower? 85% off is already pretty great.

X series, hands down.
If you want to check out the classic series after getting a bit more used to the games, it's easier to start with Megaman X.
I do not recommend the Zero series. It's bad. I know it gets a lot of praise but trust; it sucks ass.

True ... unnecessary grinding to get a 3-hit combo and abilities that could better be found in some secret locations by exploration alone .

And the bosses were weirdly designed how the weakness-system was handled combined with the elf-system which are another headache of its own .

All that is true, but my main gripe with the Zero series is that it suffers the same problem as Rockman & Forte on GBA; there's too much screen crunch to be able to see enemies coming up, so there's really no avoiding taking damage on a first playthrough; it doesn't respect the skill or intelligence of the player, just forces you to memorize enemy placement if you want a good rank (another aspect I feel doesn't belong in a game like this).

I would describe them as echo chambers for the devs if that makes sense.
They wanted a dummy hardcore game that is punishing and difficult and sure enough they made one disregarding every common sense for the franchise, thinking for themselves first and then "idk send good luck to any filthy casual that dares to try our game". (Zero 3 feels more fair, can't say about 4 yet)

Crapcom lost their chance to made them widescreen, that alone fixes half of the issue.

But I guess that's their appeal, I do like the bombastic 2D action Inti Creates makes in general.

Still, IMO get the first X collection to start, those 4 bangers included are much more fair than whatever annoying thing the classic ones do way too often and serve as a good introduction to prepare for the rest of the franchise. (again, the classic ones)

I don't recommend the second collection as much, play X5/X6 in emulation with improvement patches for a better experience, avoid X7 like the plague and X8 is alright but far from the best (the fanmade 16-bit demake is way better in level design since it removes all the jank and padding entirely from every level aka makes them excellent)

Oh and Battle Network is very fun and unique, if you are interested in deck-building then you'll have a really good time.

Those RPGs don't have experience systems and instead you get stronger based on your folder of 30 chips (cards), explore and find more unique enemies and defeat them efficiently to get more attacks, mix them in the folder and make a good combination and wreck more types of enemies then repeat.

Very late game challenges want you to defeat bosses in less than 30 seconds and that's totally possible with a good combination, very addicting stuff.

If you like tactics and building decks, the Battle Network games are a MUST to buy. Those games are insanely good and really fun.

For side-scrolling, IMHO, get X collection 1 (better games, overall). JG5009 is absolutely right about X5-X8: X collection 2 is not worth a purchase. X5-6 are nice, X8 is okay-ish (but the demake is a million and a half times better), and X7 is one of the worst games Crapcom has ever made. Just watch gameplay videos of X7 and you'll understand what it means to want to shove blades of glass into your ears to help stop the bleeding so that the pain will end very quickly. It's also a badly designed game.

If you want to experience the originals get the Mega Man Legacy Collection

For somthing a bit more modern get the Mega Man X Legacy Collection

If you want very unique (and very LONG) action PRGs get the
Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection

Also, if you want an action platformer RPG give a chance to Mega Man X Dive Offline (most Megaman fans hate it, but maybe you will like it)
