What Media Changed You?

Before leaving my parents house and go to a big city I never cared much about music, I used to listen to popular genres like reggaeton and cumbia that will mostly sing about sex in a vulgar way.
Then, once I was away from my hometown a guy that used to be my roommate made me listen this:

It sounded good, pretty cool relaxing tune, but then from 5:54 my brain:

Truly, from an atomic point of view it was like a whole universe was falling apart and re-building itself. I understood it, what was good and bad. From that point everything that deviates from this music was just trash.
For more than 5 years I devoured everything about Led Zeppelin, all their disks, every bootleg of their live shows(thanks to internet), their movie, I did not listen anything else but Led Zeppelin, I sang their songs until my throat will hurt, bought t-shirts of them and so on. Because of them I explored blues, rock, metal and some of their sub-genres.
Today I'm more chill about it, the long infatuation has finally ended but it is still my favorite band of all times.

I feel like I take something away from everything I watch, read or play, especially nowadays and even if I don't end up liking it fully, I always try to understand where the author, artist, director etc. were coming from.

Gurren Lagann is probably the biggest one for me still, to the point it's still my favorite anime of all time. I didn't watch it when it was first airing (I was still a bit too young at the time and only just started dipping my toes into the world of anime outside of what was being aired on TV in my country like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Ghibli movies etc.) but when I did watch it, it blew me away. It's also what kind of got me to start looking at things a bit deeper and start analyzing themes and deeper meanings to shows, movies etc. Made me go back and look at things I already loved, but perhaps didn't fully understand why I loved them outside of appealing/entertainment value and appreciate them in a new light. It's why I'll always love it and sing it's praises everytime.

The films of Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch are a big source of inspiration for me as well. Again, encouraging me to think harder and deeper about what I'm engaging with at the time, but also to just generally try and think differently overall, which for someone like me whose always been naturally curious and would easily spend entire afternoons reading and researching whatever topic I was interested in at the moment has been nothing but a benefit. Kubricks films particuarly inspire me in the sense he never pigeonholed himself to one type of film or genre. He had a lot of interests and his films reflected that, tackling any genre and staying true to his own visions and never compromising or playing it safe. As someone (trying) to be an artist of some kind, it deeply inspires me.

Growing up I was obsessed with Digimon Adventure, I’d just constantly rewatch it non stop(along with the first season of Pokémon). For me it was the first series I recall really putting me on the edge of my seat, completely invest me in the world building and mystery.

I can still recall so many scenes from it, along with how they first hit me. I think the most impactful moments for me were Whamon’s death, Angemon’s reveal, Etemon (he freaked me out), SkullGreymon, and Kari‘s reveal.
When i was a child, i keep a couple of bootleg figures of the digidestined behind the pillow inside a little box called "the dreambox", to help me sleep. Watching Digimon Tamers in my teens was a mind-blowing experience too.
