Manga What manga are you reading right now?

I'm currently in the arc with Sasaki, it picked up once the story of the legendary bike happened. I didn't even mind the side story chapters like the one about the little kid at the baseball stadium. But that early stuff is ROUGH and I really don't like how the women are portrayed in this at all.
The female cast get their moments to shine in Bad Boys, but a fair amount of it revolves around the three main gangs.

There are a few times where they're pretty cool, and a couple of the love stories are kind of sweet. I just generally think there's always a better way to tell a story with women in it, without resorting so often to rape or attempted rape. It always feels like a weak way out to me. I get that it fits in a series about a bunch of shithead teenagers, but still.

Anyway, it's kept my interest long enough to see it through and I'll likely seek out the followups since Kippo is supposed to be the one, but I don't see it replacing Crows in my heart or anything, heh.

I'll agree with the idea that sexual violence is overused in a lot of stories, but it's sadly a part of delinquent life. It reflects that kind of harsh realities of those who get involved with delinquent/bosozoku culture and fits those kinds of stories more than your dime a dozen dark fantasy stories that shoehorn it in to give their female cast some sort of pseudo-development in the form of trauma.

I'm really curious to see if this new upcoming series in the Crows universe finally incorporates women, it's a whole aspect that's barely been touched upon. I'm thinking it probably won't, but something different would be welcome.

I bought a lot of mangas recently and I'm trying not to read too much stuff at once, for now Gachiakuta and Rave for the first time, and I'm re-reading Jojo from the start as I'm finally collecting Jojonium and all the series

Currently re-reading Shaman King as well as reading Murcielago, Prince Freya, and Shinobi Undercover. Also looking forward to re-reading Basara and Flame of Recca sometime soon as well!

Bad Boys is my favorite delinquent manga, but if you don't like it by around volume 5, you may as well stop, as that is where the main meat of the story begins to set in.
How is Shaman King? I don't hear anyone talk about it, and I just saw it once as I was browsing new manga to read. Would you say it's good? Is it like those old shonen manga, like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, etc, etc? Or is it similar but kinda its own thing?

NO MATTER HOW I LOOK AT IT- IT'S YOU GUY'S FAULT I'M NOT POPULAR!
Seriously though, it's a pretty cute manga. Has bad moments, but I think it's very fun watching Tomoko grow throughout the course of it. Not to be that guy, but............. she JUST like me fr.

It's kind of its own thing, but without spoiling too much, it starts similar to a battle shonen, and then has a big tonal shift about 2/3rds of the way into the story, almost like it grew up with the audience. A lot of people disliked that aspect of it, but I really liked it. Out of the ones you mentioned, it's probably most similar to Bleach.

Just finished Air Gear. It was peak.
My next stop is GetBackers! And after that... Maybe Rave Master or Flame of Recca :V

Getbackers and Recca are my top two action shonen manga! I hope you enjoy them.
