What makes the emulation experience did not and WILL NOT get close to the orginal experience

I'm not arguing those points made on the OP, but emulation has come a long way since the pioneer days of Bleem!, No$GBC and that bleeding red Genesis one -- now you can even hook up joysticks that look and feel like the originals to your console/PC or emulate an older system through a newer one on the same family (I play PS1/2 on PS3)... you can also get reproduction carts and shove them right into the machines in most cases. It's a tough balance, but so is everything else worth discussing.

The only benefit from original hardware is having the intended controller.

We all agree emulation is quite fantastic (which I believe is evidenced by us all being here :) but there truly is something magical about plugging in all the cords to your SNES, twisting on the coax cable to the back of the CRTV, seeing the black and white fuzz because you forgot to switch it to channel 3 and hearing that "click" when you slide the power switch up. Then the intro music hits and BANG! youre 10 years old again. Playin some Battletoads with your brother and your best bud. No cares in the world except how to get past that stupid hover level lol BUUUUUUUUUT theres also something nice about pulling out my phone and whoopin Lavos into eternity....I do wish the market was a bit cheaper for games and whatnot, but I understand the appeal for originality.

I play on original hardware because I bought most of it years ago when it was still cheap and got flashcarts and ODEs when I noticed the prices start to get out of control. If I was trying to get into the hobby now from scratch I would just emulate everything.
Now witch one is better depends on what you want out of it. A lot of the "benefits" of emulation don't appeal to me. using rewind, fast forward and save states just feels like cheating, I don't give a shit if YOU use them, but to me if I finish a game using them it just feels like a hollow victory. Also all the upscaling, upressing and filters used to "enhance" the graphics looks like complete shit and you'll never convince me otherwise. I also like that I know I don't have to mess around with settings to get things running the way I want, with OG hardware I know I can just slap the rom on there, boot it up and it just works with 100% accuracy.
Then there's troubleshooting. I specialize in hardware, not software. If something breaks I have a much easier time fixing a broken console then having to go through 60 thousand menus to find the setting that fixes my emulator or computer.
So all in all no elitism here, it just fits my needs better. I honestly don't give a shit how anyone else plays old games, just that they're playing them.

Motion clarity and low input latency are the main reasons for me to prefer playing on original hardware. Both could be achieved with a modern setup I'm sure but I don't have the equipment for that and the price of displays capable of this are still too damn high for me to consider. It's not like I consider playing on modern setups bad or anything but once you get to compare them side to side it's really hard to prefer emulation over the original. At least for games up to 6th gen.
For handheld systems though I really don't see much reason to prefer original hardware unless it's for some hardware "gimmick" like with *ds systems. Most of them seem almost objectively superior played on modern hardware.
It can also be nice to be sat in front of a device free of distractions and just focus on the game. There's always a billion other things to do and settings to play with while you're on a pc.

Also I say "original hardware" but in reality I have a mister setup with a crt. Close enough to original while having the benefit of not being ancient.

I won't fault anyone for wanting to play on original hardware, but to me it's like the difference between people who only listen to lossless audio vs. everyone else. If it enhances your experience, you do you. But I don't personally get enough out of original hardware to prefer it over the convenience and accessibility of emulation.

Plus, the physical space it takes up, the need to upkeep the layout of my gaming space so that everything stay organized and playable, and not to mention the price.

Playing ds/3ds games on something that isn’t an actual ds/3ds.
Basically my answer too. Nothing will get the feel like pulling the 3DS from my pocket at work, taking a 10 minute break, and running some Fire Emblem to destress for a minute.
Granted, I like my ability to play Fire Emblem with a PS3 controller on my laptop, but I can't bring a laptop to work.

Good luck finding one though, I believe they discontinued the SF30. I'm just glad I got mine when I did, and to play Katamari on the Switch of all things. It's Playstation like analogue stick layout was perfect at the time.

All I see it as is a bunch of elitist garbage wanting to show off the fact they've got more money than other people.

It is literally the same game when you play it on an emulator or a physical console.
I didn't talk about the game i talk about the felling that's the emulator don't give it to you i think its like the movie's if you like to see a movie and take the perfect experience you will go to the cinema, yes i agree you will spend some money but to get the the great way to the experience, in the emulator if you want to get the experience as perfect as possible its will take a long time to search for Hd texture and 60 fps and take a long time to download , after doing all this thing's you Will play the game with no patience no happines and no time

and believe me it's really not about the money I am not a rich and not a elitist garbage i just a man who want to play the games in the best way an have fun.

I went full circle, started with the emulation because I was poor, then bought and softmodded every console under the sky, eventually realizing that I can't be bothered to set it all up to play and for what? Muh aesthetics? Muh psx dithering? It's fun to mess around with toys you grew up with but if you want to play a game - you will play it, everything else is being pretentious. Back to playing games in pcsx2 on my steam deck and I don't care anymore.

With that being said Nintendo DS and 3DS catalogue remains the only case of hardware being an inseparable part of the gaming experience. No amount of workarounds will properly translate the physicality of a dual-screen handheld device

I see your point but i am a man believe in Specialization , when i play in the console i get more comfortable when i play on console i can play 6 to 7 hours continuous but on the emulator in the perfect cases i can play 3 hours

They did
Fortunately, I already have one 😅

There is nothing emulation couldn't do better than the real thing. DS and its dual screens translate perfectly with smartphones in vertical modes with melonDS and the likes.

There's no better motion controllers on the market than the PCVR ones and you can get as many virtual screens as you want. At some point I'll try 3DS emulation with empty VR heasets where you just put the smartphone in. They're 30$, super cheap, really cost effective.

Here's a 3D video to test House of the Dead 2 in VR modded for stereo 3D and the motion controller used as a lightgun. EmuVR got any lightgun game running, you even get the guncon model in your hand to shoot with.

When I get superpowers I'm gonna have all the powers of BSnes, and I will beat you up to MSU-1 music and savestate after taking a screenshot so that you can relive the moment.
fxpak pro actually supports MSU-1 music, it's pretty sick. SNES Earthworm Jim 2 with the Saturn music is the best way to play that game imo. I've also tried Illusion of Gaia with the orchestral arrangements and the Super Star Wars trilogy with the movie score. All the flash carts I have support save states, I just don't use them.

A good game that runs accurately on an emulator is going to be just as good on it regardless of how much nostalgia you have for your old TV or console, you being more into a single vibe than the other is personal preference. Unless the console has an archaic control scheme that's hard to emulate like the N64, Wii or even PlayDate, or an unique form factor like the DS line.

WOOOOOOO and Tokimeki Memorial with the cutscenes and MSU-1 music! It's amazing, I think the english translation for the second game was near completion.

I've seen arcade builds of Sinden emulation for example @
