Borrowing from an old favorite of mine...
I think this book cover does several important things at once: it displays key parts of its content (dog skull, girl, pirate ship), doesn't overshadow any bit, and it looks really cool while it's at it — it's common knowledge that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I only needed to take one look at this one to immediately want to read it. And that's a great thing indeed.
What covers would you say perfectly sell the content within? Remember: it can be from literally any media, from music CDs and books to movies and videogames!
