Are you a ceiling, an oscillation, a tower

I kid I kid. I wanted to know what kind of fan you are of the things you like. I'm sure how I rep myself up with Kirby and Palutena could have it be assumed that I'm some massive Nintendo fan when in truth the only current console I have from them is a Super Nintendo. Plus, I've never even had the full catalog to begin with. The wii era was around when I was in my rebellious teenage years and it became basically a Netflix machine. I also have no plans of getting a Switch 2. Like Reggie I always liked the the innovative nature of Nintendo, so the Switch 2 disinterest me with how its essentially an upgrade of a console that already overstayed its welcome. That being said I am big on Kirby at least and I have played all the games minus that dessert racing one. Anyway, I feel that's a good summation. I do have other things I consider myself a fan of, but those are the heavy hitting video game centered ones. What's it like for you?

Well depends mostly I play all their games reading tv tropes and Wikipedia beyond the scenes and discovery the game development, maybe I am deep fan.

I like pretty much everything except sports, FPSes, and Pokemon, but that doesn't mean I play everything.

I guess it would really be easier if I just made a list, but that list would be  huge.

the kind who posts Topsters lists from my old collection of games. (Pokemon Emerald was from my cousin, Bomberman Tournament and Fire Emblem Sacred Stones were games i borrowed for a bit and then returned them.) (forgot some Sega titles)

Technically I'm no fan of anything because being fan of anything would mean you love everything about X, however nothing is perfect. Being fan also indicates being a supporter who would wanna consume everything about it which I cannot be like that at all.

There is no musical band or artist whom I even like most of their work, can't imagine really loving lots of music of a band/artist.

I may joke around being "Sega fan boi" but in reality I only like Sega Genesis because of the video games it has and the Sega Genesis quality in games as in the graphics and kickass soundtrack and all. It's a style of its own. For example I like PlayStation 2 but I ain't a Sony fanboi lol. I actually dislike lots of Sega's own games lol.

I do love particular games; like Japanese version of Ace Combat 3, Breath of Fire 4, Racing Lagoon, some Metal Gear games, Fallout series except Bethesda's rubbish ones, et cetera. But it's just "I can always enjoy playing these games" and that is it. Would I buy merchandise regarding them?: Nope. Would I take a free PlayStation 1 that has Ace Combat 3 or Racing Lagoon artwork on it?: Nope. For example I like the way Sega logo looks cool but would I take a free hat that has Sega logo on it?: Nope.

I enjoy using stuff in the context of whatever significant benefit they have for me, so I don't care about useless stuff that's about what I like. For example I may love the manga "Eminence in Shadow" but I won't care to get an action figure about it because it's useless and that's it lol.

In short I think being a fan is an unrealistic and useless unnecessary thing to believe you are one. Some people may have a need to feel to belong something and in that context they have "us vs them mentality" to wanna differentiate themselves from others to "be someone" so it make them wanna belong to a group and follow a symbol like a flag and whatever. I don't think the way the people who can be a fan of anything does and because of it I don't limit myself to one thing for my entertaintment and I really don't care if what I like is disliked by majority. That's why I don't care who even hates Racing Lagoon or not. It's just their opinion as it's all about subjectivity anyway. I don't have to be a fan of everything and choose side of something lol.

i consider myself a jack of all trades sort of person, though recently ive noticed a lot of my tastes have molded based on overall a e s t h e t i c s if it means much to anyone, like if it looks like it was from the 90's or 'naughty's you bet your bottom dollar i'll pay money for it, opinion be damned

Guess it depends on the media in question. There's a lot of things that I'm a more passive fan of, then certain things (like Vocaloid/Miku, surprise surprise) that I'm a much deeper and more obsessed fan of.

I like what I like and don't engage with the fandom because 9 times out of 10 they tirn out to be chronically online psychos. Silent Hill/Resident Evil fans are a good example.

A centrifugal fan...
I am the kind of fan who cares enough to watch or play something but not get too bent out of shape if someone dislikes it. Hey, that's you. I like what I like, you the same. I don't care enough about any show, series, game, etc.. to warrant arguing over it.

Old-school Japanese arcade games, particularly from 1985-2005. For home consoles Sega Saturn enthusiast, and more recently (last several years) PC Engine. Import, obscure- not for the sake of being unnoticed but having intriguing /unique gameplay that is enjoyable but often forgotten or overlooked.

Fan translation boom of the past decade has been a blessing.

I do have my favorite genres, franchises I come back to. As for modern games I tend to stick to my favorite series of the past that have released new games, sometimes giving a chance of a new IP's from my favorite developers but most times not.

Despite growing up with Nintendo (NES, GB, SNES) I am very fond of those systems but wouldn't consider myself a overall fan- especially for modern Nintendo systems and games they're just not for me. Same thing can be said about Sony (PS1) despite owning PS2 as well I was never a fan of the 3D action-adventure type games, or 3D platforming in general. Sega is tricky since I do enjoy the majority of their releases (early software the most) and am very fond of Dreamcast- majority released after 2010 is mostly a miss for me.

I am a sony fan if anything. But in all my fandoms I am very casual not hardcore

I'm a huge fan of the Monster Hunter formula. one of my favorite games in the genre was Dauntless (R.I.P.).

I was a hardcore Pokémon player up until SW/SH was kind of disappointed with the new features, loved some of the new Pokémon but the gameplay was extremely lackluster. The Switch was one of my favorite consoles since the PS2, it made me nostalgic for better days. The 360 and XBONE were great, but something about the Switch just made me actually happy.

I'm also a huge JRPG fan, like hardcore. I'll play anything JRPG to at least try.

I'd be inclined to suggest Horrorvale if you like abundant and substantial side content and such comparatively mindless growth systems as "build variety is all in the equipment and party composition, the whole party shares a level, and character ultimates are locked behind sidequests"

Passionate, but some one who is not afraid to abandon a franchise if it irreparably declines in quality.
Apathy is a fate far worse than hatred.
There's so much I just won't bother with, life's not worth disappointment when I could spend it enjoying something differient.

You can also buy duplicates/replacements for unique sidequest equipment after you've completed the event that gives you that equipment, and the game is just full of charm. I'd say this October 2024 release is Earthbound levels of special.
