The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King/El Señor de los Anillos: El Retorno del Rey (GC, 2003)

The Emperor's New Groove on GBC I think. I don't remember a thing about the game itself but I do remember having the cartridge. Besides that it could've been Gremlins 2 or Robocop for GB or Harry Potter for GBC.

I have seen the animated film and at the same time the cartoon of The Emperor's New Groove But I haven't played the video game but it's okay and I also think that have I played the Gremlins 2 but the NES version but the GB version, the RoboCop 1 from on Game Boy and the 2 Harry Potter's from GBC.

Probably Robocop on the GB or NES... which was years before I watched the actual robocop movie cos I wasn't just a kid back then, I was a really little kid!

Oh, and Top Gun on the NES... Stupid landing sequence.

Um..... Gonna have to dig deep to remember something like this ::sailor-embarrassed
Maybe the tie-in game for the 1st Sam Raimi Spider-Man?

I definitely played other licensed tie-in games before that, but I don't think they were based on movies specifically?::thinking

I have played this game but I only got to the 7th level where you have to avoid the powerful waves of Shocker and I never passed that level even trying to get it right at least in the GameCube version.

I don't know if I ever finished it either :loldog

I'm not really sure, I played a lot of movie based games as a kid. I will guess my first may have been a rental of Batman Returns for SNES, or maybe T2: The Arcade Game.

First movie games I remember owning are Batman, Robocop 3, and The Karate Kid(based on the second movie btw even though that's not reflected in the game's title) for NES. We also had The Lone Ranger which I don't think was based on a particular movie, I don't know much about the franchise outside the game which is great btw.

I've seen the First Godfather Movie once but I haven't played the game but it looks good and is faithful to the '72 Movie.
Godfather! I'm very glad because many of these "movie-based" titles on PS2 were atrocious XD
Godfather I & II are a little clunky, but I always thought they were pretty good GTA clones. It was a bit awkward how it tried to include your created character into the story of the movies, but they were still fun none-the-less.

They also had a similar "environmental attack" system to the Punisher & Sleeping Dogs, where you could drag enemies and interact with objects in the environment.

I've played it once and it's pretty good for a game based on the '89 Movie although it's very challenging but I was able to finish it through emulation with save states especially at the Stage 4-2 and 5-1.
Yeah its really tough. As NES games tended to be. I remember renting it a bunch of times and really liking it even though it was so hard.
I've never beat it, but I havent gone back and tried with save states. Now I kinda want to, though.

I understand you friend 👍🏻.

Top Gun on NES, the Landing sequence... i'll be real, i never had problems with it, then again, i was a kid, so i wasn't exactly busy with a store or house chores like nowadays
oh damn, how could I forget Top Gun? Definitely played that first before Batman.
Its really not a great game but its very nostalgic! I definitely DID have trouble landing lol

Based on the movie?
It will probably be Hunt for the Red October on the NES. Although I never finished it. For me, as an 8-9 year's old kid it was too difficult.

Or maybe Top Gun (not Top Gun: The Second Mission) on the NES. I played both around the same time, so I don't remember which one was first.

However, if I can include TV series, Power Rangers 2 for the NES was definitely the first. Interestingly, the game seems like bootleg, but it isn't bootleg. It's a official production by Arc System Works based on the Japanese original, the Super Sentai series. However, it was never oficially released outside Japan, so it was available on various pirated cartridges for Famicom clones.

And yes, there were mini-games with pong played by the zords and something like bomb tennis
