I think I played it once but in the arcade version on MAME.

I believe it was Super Mario Bros on Nes, though not my own copy, got to play it at a friend's place.
My true first owned platformer was Crash 1.

@Nelson2001 - Yep, it was arcade. Then it was ported on ColecoVision in 1982 and, if I remember correctly, even on the Casio PV-1000 in 1983

And as a curious fact is also that Super Mario Bros. (FC/NES) also had an Arcade version called Vs. Super Mario Bros. for the Vs. UniSystem and the difference of this version is because of the level design that is designed especially for this version in order to make it more challenging that in the base version although the levels of World 1 (except 1-4), and also World 8 (Although the 8-4 hidden platform leading to the pipe is slightly higher than in the original) are identical to the original version.

i was gonna keep it to myself, but noone else has had this first yet (in this thread) my pack-in copy of Sonic the Hedgehog on my '94 Sega Mega drive was certainly my first game and platformer.
