What is your favorite system to emulate?

Probably SNES, since I never grew up with one but I had a disc with 200 roms growing up. Helped me discover all kinds of cool stuff.

SNES, has a lot of games i like and little to none troubleshooting (might as well be plug and play).

Commodore 64, there's just too much software to see and a giant swing between the peaks and valleys of the library. It's always fun either way.

Probably PS2. PCSX2 just got so good and comfortable to use over the years.

The GBA have one of the best library of games ngl, so many hidden gems

NES. It just works. No need to mess with any settings, it just fucking works.

PS2 on my pc with a cheap but perfectly working joystick; when I had the console years ago I missed some titles so I've played them recently ("Dirge Of Cerberus" and "Dawn of Mana").

Neo Geo by far, without any doubts. I can't be a Neo Geo collector (because of the high cost and rarity of titles in good conditions), so emulation gives me the posibility to enjoy this old but amazing system from the past, even in better conditions than back then. Some PS2 and PS4 compilations (Art Of Fighting Anthology, KOF Orochi collection, KOF'98 Ultimate Match, Windjammers, Samurai Shodown Collection, Metal Slug 3, Breakers...) and recent ACA Neo Geo games (Big Tournament Golf, World Heroes, Street Hoop, Top Hunter, In The Hunt, 1945 Plus, Pulstar...) have given me back the feel of the best 2D console games/arcades from the 90s era. :-D

PlayStation via Duckstation. I've always found the texture wobbling to be a bit nauseating, so Duckstation's option to remove that is a gamechanger. Plus, the upscaling options make games look almost like I'm playing on the N64 I had as a child, but with the advantages of discs.

Hmmm... I do enjoy emulating gaming systems. But i also like virtual machines in general. Trying out a new linux distro without rebooting, seeing the latest features, running Linux and Windows at the same time and even sharing the same windowing space using VirtualBox addons... And then even systems that can be considered for gaming but just nostalgia with Atari800, Apple2 and trying older OSes, including Amiga.

And upcoming, with Risc-V becoming more a thing wanting to try out new chipsets and what a decent likelihood of systems that will be coming out once it matures enough to be viable (Also the likelihood of programming Risc-V chips to simulate other chips as it likely will take over as a cheaper replacement over other chips).

If i had to choose, it would be one that has simple enough features and was a good balance of performance, complexity, cost (hardware), and software i wanted to use. Probably non-3D (at least foreground stuff, background doesn't matter), unless it's after the Xbox/PS2 age where 3D was figured out enough to be really viable. I don't know.

i mostly play whatever i feel like i missed out on growing up and that tends to be games on ps2 and wii but if i had to pick then absolutely ps2

Hmm that's tough, probably the PSP, because of how terrible the psp's analog nub was.

Wii and GameCube. Dolphin is one of the rare few emulators that doesn't require any BIOS files or whatnot, so I don't need to go pull out my Wii to make a NAND dump just to use the emulator, lol.
Plus, pretty much everything runs perfectly under Dolphin - I have yet to find a game that exhibits any issues that make it unplayable.

Probably ps2 and GameCube because it's still mindblowing to me that those consoles can be emulated nearly perfectly on something that fits in my pocket.
