All the Existing Models of the Game Boy have their advantages and disadvantages but the SP was more innovative especially because of its design and the possibility of adjusting the brightness (Although it has 1 level) but it is something and has the more portable aspect that characterizes it.

For me Game Boy Color, Sure the Advance is nice but the Color is special as I grew up with the orginal game boy and then Color came out and suddenly you could play games with color instead of green and it was a marvel in it self.

Advance is nice if you own one with proper back light or a modded one with new better screen and the Advance SP you wanna own the Ags-101 but owning any of that will cost you 300+ bucks.

You can still get a color for like 40 bucks and sure you kind of want a modded one to see shit but still won´t cost you an arm.

The GBA SP. It has a backlit screen, rechargeable battery, folds in half for storage and screen protection, can play any GB, GBC, and GBA cart, only thing it lacks is a headphone jack which does have an adapter for it.

The classic GBA! It's like the sexiest handheld ever imo (together with the Vita), that form factor is just too good.
Only shame is the dark screen, but everyone and their mother mods them nowadays.

I had this one, which was my first gaming system.

I was the first one of my friends to have a GBA, they all had GBCs and I felt like the king of the schoolyard. Apparently the first thing I asked my parents when I got it for my birthday was how they could afford it, since we were really poor when I was little.

I had the white GBA and one of these light covers for it by Pelican. It actually worked really well.

Yeah I remember I had some weird magnifying glass/lamp combo you clamped onto the top. It was a yellow light though so it was kinda glary but better than nothing.

I find the Pocket and the Color to have the best customization of the systems. I think the default is to say anything from the Advance line, especially with backwards compatibility, but I really play less GBA games than original GB games, so the GameBoy original line works well for me to own.

I’m of course including emulation in the picture. The best way to play GBA games, at least in my view, is emulated on one of Sony’s handhelds because you get the form factor but without issues with the screens. If I ever got a GBA again, I’d probably go for a Micro, just because it would be fun and cute :3

As someone that had Gameboys since the pocket, same shade of yellow as the Pokémon yellow cart, they actually went quite well together.

I had a light green colour and a white advance. I will say that my silver advance SP was my favourite, and the only drawback it had at the time was no audio jack on it. I now largely play all these games on either a 2ds XL or my Vita, I do have a special place in my heart for the pocket and the SP, kept me company throughout my childhood collectively.

Wow, no love for the Game Boy Light...

Anyway, mine's the original GBA
