I don't have many great retro game stores near me, but I do frequent second hand shops, so I'm always excited when I find something interesting. From the a Wii for $20 to the Gameboy Email cart, you can find things you wouldn't expect to. But of what I have purchased, I have to say the most interesting thing I found was a physical copy of Morrowind. Now maybe thats not the coolest thing ever, but for $3 I wanted it. I opened it up to check if the disk was there, and sure enough, it was. Check the back of the case, only to find it isn't written in english. Doing a double take, I realize its in Polish. Neat, but as I don't speak the language, I see no reason to buy it anymore..... until I took another look at the disk and found a name I hadn't expected

You catch that? CD Project. I mean I knew that outside of pirating, their first works was translating games into Polish, but somehow I never knew this was on the list. Proudly never selling this. Also no idea why its previous owner would have donated it

And no, I didn't buy that Gameboy email cartridge, kinda wish I had

At a second hand shop a few years back and found a fat stack of Id Software games (circa Quake II/III era) on CD-Rom in the cases in effectively pristine condition.
Like 8-10 games. Was rad.
Got my Windows ME/XP vibes bumpin that week, lol

stonekeep i bought on GOG only 9 bucks

Got a stack of Game Gear games for $20. Picked up the Analogue Pocket adapter and get to play all the games I never got to as a kid since I just had a Gameboy.

Paprium making it to my mail box.
That's amazing! I didn't pre-order it, but I'm still hoping to play the game one day. Lol.

More recently, I found a Sega Saturn light gun priced pretty cheap at a retro shop. Also, came across OutRunners on the Genesis CIB in great condition. I'm a big OutRun fan, but had never played OutRunners, so that was a nice find.

I found a Pikachu GBC at my grandparents house before it was sold along with Pokemon Yellow. The game still works and the save file is intact. But the GBC speaker doesn't work right. It's fine with headphones and in pretty good shape otherwise. It likely belonged to one of my cousins. I also ended up with two full copies of Legend of Dragoon and three full copies of Final Fantasy 8.

You lucked out honestly. The development and launch was a huge debacle and there's many people who preordered way back in 2014 still waiting for their copies. It's alright, really hope the reverse engineering effort comes to fruition someday if only so those who are still waiting over a decade later can finally play it.
