That is the question that i was wondering for a while, i played the beggining of the remastered version of X and i feel something is not right, because im Thinking about the International Version of this game that i can play on emulator and the pc version is
bigger than the rom of the international version, can you all help me? (I can put mods in this game like final fantasy VII, Pixel remaster, VIII and IX, but this time i want to play the true game without mods.)

I put the tread in the wrong place sorry.

im assuming you're playing the steam version of the ffx/ffx-2 remastered which would explain its larger size because it includes both games and some side content. I recommend the pc remaster over the og, graphically it looks better and is widescreen. the steam version also has turbo which is good if you gotta grind!

The only thing that bothers me about the HD version is that they “upgraded” the faces but they don’t show as much expression.
I modded the faces of the character to look like ps2 like but its not the same thing.

I'd go for FFX International on a PS2 emulator. The HD remasters are fine but I still prefer the originals, plus navigating the menu's compared to the HD versions is much more snappier, they also look better too.

The original's lighting is better, that combined with the fact that only some of the models have been upgraded for the HD remaster makes it feel a bit odd. However, the HD remaster has some major QOL updates, most notably the "boosters" you can activate by pressing the F-keys on the keyboard. The game has a couple difficulty spikes at certain points so the boosters can make enemy grinding much less of a pain.

Personally, I'd say HD, simply due to QoL adjustments. But if you want the faces to look better, more than the game to have helpful extras, go with the International or whatever. Just make sure you get the one with all the content so you can fully enjoy the series, and acknowledge that FFX still has potential for a sequel, and we won't ever get it unless it's in the "post 7 Remake trilogy" era of Squeenix.

the hd versions are the official english versions of the international release. the ps2 version might technically be better because the special move "quick hit" is broken to shit. you basically can get 25 continuous turns in a row before the game cuts you off. it's fixed to about 6 in the hd ports. another main difference is the regular sphere grid has more spaces in the hd/international version, the wiki has a bit of info on that:
  • Regular: Offered in the original Japanese and North American versions, this version has 828 nodes with 77 unremovable nodes and 751 manipulable nodes.
  • Standard: Offered in the International, PAL and HD Remaster versions, this version has 860 nodes, with 85 unremovable nodes and 775 manipulable nodes.
  • Expert: Offered in the International, PAL and HD Remaster versions, this version has 805 nodes with 85 unremovable nodes and 720 manipulable nodes.
if you want to do mods, then stick with the steam version. want all of the original quirks and no ribbon armor, play ps2. want the extra bosses and a few new abilities, weapons and armor; hd/international/steam is the way to go.

I want to like the HD remaster but the Ps2 has superior visuals since most of the updated textures are a downgrade.

If you only care about the story and the gameplay, any version is fine. If anything, PC is probably better because I think it has turbo.

On the other hand, PS2 has better facial expressions, and it kind of matters

That's wild. I played through the game back in the day, and remembered it looking a little better than it was when I revisited it a couple decades later. I bought the PS4 version of the remaster and played through it without really noticing all of these changes. I enjoyed it, but seeing the choices they made with changing textures and faces makes the remaster feel lesser compared to the original. At first glance it looks better, but upon closer inspection things look weirdly smoothed over and there's a lot less detail. Seeing the clouds behind Tidus and Yuna in the PS2 picture Teone posted compared with the remaster's photo having a blurry gradient in the background really drives it home. Even Yuna's face in the other photo conveys a stoic seriousness on PS2 and a more carefree, relaxed atmosphere with the remaster. Considering what she has to deal with in the story and the burden placed upon her, a serious facial expression makes way more sense.

It certainly seems like playing the game on PC emulated with upscaling and whatnot is the optimal way to go. It makes me appreciate even more how much effort the developers put into showcasing the personality of the party through the various textures and facial features. They must have really been pushing the limits of what was able to be made with the PS2 in 2001.

yeah, they were. lulu has that specific outfit to test the ps2's ability to render and place stuff correctly every time that it has to.
