What is the best guitar solo you've ever heard?

Thanks for posting that, Octopus' clip wouldn't play for me. That is absolutely bad-ass.

I love the "Are you experienced?" album. One of my favorites of all time.

Ok, for something more Spanish guitar duo style, this totally slaps:

I Love Rodrigo y Gabriela, one of my fav tracks

These versions aren't half bad for a 16 bit console video game.

There is MSU-1 tracks for that awesome game

That was sick, I'd love to be able to play Spanish guitar like that. If I could go back in time and tell young guitar player Octopus one thing, it would be to learn how to play some flamenco.

Whenever someone asks me why when I say Prince was an insanely underrated guitar player, this is why. This is from a supergroup performance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, a bunch of famous people are jamming on the song then Prince rips this solo out of absolute nowhere at 3:24. Perfectly in tune with the backing behind him, fills every pocket in the rhythm. He knows when to back off a little bit and keep the melody, but then when to go in and let loose.

I've heard you shred, you could totally learn. Just need to find the right teacher. I couldn't do it, I don't have the manual dexterity for virtuoso type performances. But I learned a few chords and I play simple songs on my classic guitar every once in a while.

I also tried to learn Cuatro guitar but that shits crazy.

Its a different kind of shredding though. I've learned a little bit of flamenco style stuff here and there, but I lack the fretting hand speed to keep up with all the really fast chord changes and position jumping. I'm going to keep at it though of course.

Alright, one more; Buddy Guy and Santana having a jam on Stormy Monday from Montreux, 2004. 0:35 is when Buddy starts kinda playing while waiting for Santana to come onto the stage just kinda warming up, then Santana finally comes out at about 1:26 and they just start going from there. It's like a solid 4 minutes of some of the finest electric blues shredding you can imagine with two legends who are just having so much fun playing off one another.

ohoh this one's easy *raises hand effusively*

The solo that starts at 14:20 totally feels like getting sunburt. It's not technically impressive, but it hits real hard

And well, of course every solo in this beast of a track

Honorable mention to anything Jimi Hendrix did

Dopesmoker is such a great song/entire album, and Pike's solos are always sick even if they aren't technically impressive.

I was torn between that solo or the one in High on Fire's Baghdad, but yeah Pike always knew what he was doing

They're always such a beautiful chaotic mess, really suits the music. I have to go with 10,000 Years for my favourite, with Fury Whip a close second. Baghdad's a good pick though, one of the grooviest riffs they've written.

That track feels almost like an extension of Sleep, even more so bearing in mind it's the first track of the first album

Another favorite, starts at around 3:52

He fumbles a bit in this one but it kind of just makes it gnarlier. Consider that this is a dude who's had arthritis for over 20 years. Unreal.

...this specific live performance of Still Got The Blues by Gary Moore here, which is such an unreal performance. The whole thing is filled with him on-and-off phrasing and doing little licks, but specifically when he gets into what I guess you could call the 'main solo' at 4:30 is just damn dude.
Y'known I'm pretty confident I'd never heard this song in full before, even though the main riff is so familiar to me. Thanks for sharing, that was incredible.

Also, I'm trying to learn Black Sabbath off of Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath xD I can get about 8 repetitions into the "new tempo" riff before my hand just gives up xD

Easy answer for me:
Never heard this before either, but it owns. Drive by night music for sure.
A friend showed me this once before and I must've been in an odd mood because it didn't stick with me back then. Re-watching it again now though left me pretty awe-struck.

Ah yeah, that riff can be pretty hard honestly. I still have trouble with it sometimes after playing for like 15 years. I find alternate picking it helps, I always tried to only downpick it which makes it much harder. Keep up the practise, you'll get it. The whole song is deceptively hard honestly, other than maybe the main riff.

I don't have a favorite, but there are many that I like. For example...

One of my favorite instances of the slow build-ups Chris tends to do for the stage themes for the RoR2 OSTs. Honestly one of the greatest stage themes for any videogame, as far as I'm concerned.
