what is a Writers Guild Membership

A Writer's Guild membership is obtained by submitting an article or written piece (be it a review, retrospective and so on) to the Writer's Guild.

Once accepted, you can begin writing articles for the site. I recommend checking out past applications to get an idea of what we are looking for.

Does it have to be 7 paragraphs long.

maybe like 4 sentences?

4 sentences definitely won't be approved.
Target to write something that could be published in a retro gaming magazine.
It's mostly for people who enjoys writing. If that's not you then It may not be worth the trouble.

I'm curious, so I'm gonna take the opportunity and ask:
For many years whenever i would download a game from ᏟDᏒ, from time to time i would stumble upon some games that had reviews or.. some extra information besides just the brief description and rom hack informations. I always thought "Oh, it would be cool to be able to contribute to the website by adding context so someone that doesn't know this game, and just happens to be browsing the page, might get interested into checking it out". But i never tried asking if that was allowed or viable.

Since this forum is about articles and reviews, i'm curious if that idea could be implemented?

I would have a great time creating brief but informative descriptions for as many games as i could, with screenshots and stuff like that. Playing games is not something i can spend a lot of time nowadays, but geeking out about them and their aestheticcs is still one of my biggest pleasures xD

Technically it is possible, but that area seems to be handled by the Curators, not the Writer's Guild.

I'm sure Spike will be able to come up with a much better answer, I just didn't want to leave your message unreplied to.

I was actually curious about this too

To learn about the writers guild see here https://retrogametalk.com/threads/become-a-member-aka-how-to-submit-articles-reviews.25/

About reviews in the repo, those are really old legacy reviews from early ᏟDᏒ members. Back when we had another discord server, since then disbanded.
Moving forward submit your reviews here https://retrogametalk.com/reviews/
An implementation to display a snippet those reviews on the corresponding repo game entries is a feature I'd like to develop when I have the time.
