What is a Game You Were so Hyped to Play, You Bought the Console... Only for the Game to be Cancelled?

So, I remember back in the 2000s, back when we still had G4, E3 and so on, I remember a game I was so excited for called Frame City (Later Frame City Killer) that was to be published by Namco.
You played Crow, an assassin sent to Frame City to identify and eliminate Khan, a terrorist who is selling drugs known as Visual Acid, which is a type of super-human like drug(?).

There were 3 Trailers in total, showcasing the gameplay, the story, and even the theme song of the game (sung by the Main Heroine I assume).
I was so excited about it, I got an Xbox 360... only to find out in 2006.

I still loved the 360, but I still wish I could play the game since it was the biggest reason I got an Xbox 360.

What about y'all?

Not enough to buy a console for, but I was really looking forward to True Fantasy Live Online, and then it just never happened. I would even settle for a playable build these days, just to see what it would've been like.

I sure did buy a PS4 for Final Fantasy XV and they sure didn't release the final dlc for that game

I think I've only ever bought a console for a game that had already come out. A Wii U for Bayonetta 2, Switch for Breath of the Wild, another PS4 for Judgement when my original PS4 died a few weeks before it came out... ::sailor-embarrassed

I'll second this. It looked awesome and after Phantasy Star Online, I was dying for another console MMO-like experience. And then... RIP, gone but not forgotten.

Xbox 360: Frame City Killer, Elveon (I did play a leaked prototype and it... wasn't great), Cry On, 2 Days to Vegas
PSP: Advent Shadow
PS3: City of Metronome, Eight Days, Killing Day
Wii: Sadness, Project Hammer
Vita: Bioshock game that Ken Levine announced
Xbox One: Scalebound, Phantom Dust reboot

Star Craft Ghost.....
It's fuzzy, I'm sure I have notes written down somewhere, but I really remember playing this at E3 2003. There was that and a preview video of World of Warcraft, like a full year before it came out. That was kind of a neat time.

Good to know I wasn't the only one excited for Frame City Killer...

Mega Man Legends 3
Megaman Legends 3.......................
Nintendo 3DS: Mega Man Legends 3.....it still hurts.....
It hurts... it still hurts man... 15 years later and we're still hoping to get Volnutt off the moon.

That'd be cool AF if you'd gotten to play it

Prey 2

It was around the time that I had no life to play games seriously for a long time so all I could play was mobile games on my phone (like Gravity Defied) and GBA (like Sims Urbz) so I kinda randomly learned such an amazing game was announced. I always wanted to buy a new PC to play new games that released after 2007 (my PC couldn't run Crysis 1 yo lol) but Prey 2 was a big excuse to make it happen sooner and I ended up not having Prey 2 and had to play BS games of the era like Mass Effect and lots of games I don't remember but it was better than nothing I guess. It was a shit era in PC gaming (2007-2014) for me that only like Dishonored 1 and Metal Gear Rising was memorable lol. If I didn't have a PS2 I swear new video gaming would end for me for good in PS1-era due to how games turned into a shit in PC gaming back then but it was still better than how it is now. So in that era I could safely play games with that new PC until Witcher 3 (which could barely run the game around 11 FPS even after heavy graphical setting editing in game files lol).
