Hey guys!
I was introduced to Deftones by my friend in Texas. Usually don't listen to music regularly, but when I discovered Deftones I listen to it almost every day. My favorite album is Diamond Eyes with hard-hitting songs like: Sex Tape, Prince, and Royal.
You should probably listen to it sometime.

I was talking to a coworker about Shonen Knife and he said, "if you like them, you might like Pizzicato Five." Turns out, he was right. Wish I would've known about them when they were an active group, heh.

There's quite a lot, ranging from games, shows and other stuff. But my favorite one would probably be Vaundy, discovered them from an Ousama Rankings OP

And Cynthia Harrell from songs like I Am The Wind and Snake Eater

Deftones rocks! My best friend in college introduced me to them. PS: White Pony is the best album, change my mind.

But, my all-time favorite band, Collective Soul, was introduced to me by one of my dad's ex-girlfriends, way back when I was just barely a teenager...

It was my guitar teacher who introduced me to the music of Jimi Hendrix who has always been my idol, then from me I met many other bands. Among my favorites are the Ramones, The Damned the T-Rex of Mark Bolan and many others....

Was watching a video about certain bands dissing RATM and Downset was one of the ones that came up. They mixed my two favorite genres(Rap and HC) together into one jumble and it sounded great! They did a couple split albums and collabs that introduced me to a whole bunch of other similar bands.

I got introduced into punk rock thanks to a friend who made me know Sum 41, than I searched myself other bands with e-mule.
Than two years ago "thanks" to Archenemy, I discovered metalcore and later deathcore.

I was vaguely aware of Jim O'Rourke from browsing /mu/ as a teenager and knew he was associated with Wilco, but it wasn't until I watched the movie Love Liza that I realized how insanely talented he is.

I discovered my favorite rapper MF Doom through this fan animation of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared.

And I also discovered Judas Priest through Ky Kiske's theme song in Guilty Gear Xrd.

Begrudgingly, I'd have to say that Danny from Game Grumps "introduced" me to Rush, which is a little embarrassing to admit now as a grown-ass man.
I introduced myself to Blind Guardian out of curiosity because it seemed like something that would be right up my alley, and I was very much correct lol.

In general though most of my favorite bands and projects I've discovered mostly on my own.

Uhhh really liked Black Sheep in Scott Pilgrim. Turns out Metric has an entire discography that's better than that one song.

I discovered Hi-C through Elfen Lied I think? Fell in love ever since.

In my plain years of seeking others sounding alike as Nirvana. A guy name, The Anime Man, who also has second channel that the video was made and shares some of his favorite bands. i didn't expected to be that an anime op/ed who had a good music discography but i definitely know the artist and whats show and popular songs are. it shots me to pull off that this guy eagerness is reviewing classical works and "must listen" sort of act.
Then so on, i'm like alright and immediately listen the album #4... IT SOUNDS NOTHING LIKE 2004 WORKS FROM THE RECENT ALBUM!!??

i found out about xiu xiu around the release of Girl With Basket of Fruit cause people were talking about it like it was the most horrifying piece of media they'd ever seen. Which like, fair, it is Girl With Basket of Fruit. But from them I just checked out the rest of their discography, and fell in love with their music

I have 3 artist that i considered my favorites.

•Green Day : Transformer 2,that OST is my favorites from all the Michael Bay's TF movies
•Alkaline Trio: Flatout 2
•David Bowie: first listening to his music on Driver Parallel Lines ,Guitar Hero and GTA SA(didn't realized it was him on that game tho).Started to seriously listening to him when i was playing Rock Band 3.

I got recommended some Ween songs on YouTube and spiraled from there. Luckily been able to them live a few times.

I got introduced to my second favorite artist, The Mountain Goats, in a slightly stranger way. I was listening to Aesop Rock (who I also found through YouTube recs) and heard Darnielle's part on the end of Coffee and started listening to his work and got hooked. Got to see him live last year

One day my dad was driving me home from High School and through the radio came the coolest song I'd ever heard. I asked what was playing, and my dad handed me a copy of Primus' Green Naugahyde and told me to keep it. It was new, he told me! A reunion of one of the best rock bands of all time!
I still play that CD frequently!

My aunt god rest her soul introduced me to eminem and other rappers after I talked about listening to hollywood undead to her around late 2012 to early 2013ish
And I discovered hollywood undead through youtube recommendations after listening to three days grace on youtube, and I discovered three days grace by listening to shinedown on yotube since she recommended their music to me, and that made youtube recommend me three days grace after listening to shinedown for a few weeks.

The lyrics to Within Temptation's "Mother Earth" were on the signature of a rando on some long-forgotten, hastily-deleted board nearly 20 years ago. I remember them resonating with me and making me Google the band that had written them.

I'm still a fan.

for quite a number of years I'd known some tracks from Yellow Magic Orchestra seemed to have influenced some of the earliest music in Touhou Project, a favourite series of mine. so one day i just made the proper effort to look into the rest of YMO's work and their individual members a bit more, especially the late Yukihiro Takahashi.
this is one of the most known YMO tracks and the one often brought up as influencing Touhou. i know it was also featured as a cover in Hibike Euphonium
Takahashi often did the main vocals throughout YMO's discography and there's a certain quality to his voice i guess i would describe as earnest that i like a whole lot. also very good english fluency from many years working with western musicians and producers
i'd be remiss not to also mention the other members, Haruomi Hosono who was also in a very influencial j-rock band Happy End, and the late Ryuichi Sakamoto who composed some award winning movie scores... and the Dreamcast startup jingle

I don't listen to them much anymore, but I was introduced to Red, the Christian rock band through a Danny Phantom AMV I watched when I was like 8 or 9. Then I continued liking them in my teens through a Bleach AMV that used the same song. They got me through a lot of times in my teens, and I'm happy that the lyrics were positive, because if I had listened to any other band maybe I would've hurt myself as a child idk. Obv listen to way more Japanese music since my teens, but nothing hits like nostalgic rock from your childhood <3
