My first horror game that i completed fron to back was Penumbra Overture. I kind of a scaredy cat when it comes to horrors, yet i still enjoy them if i can. What about you people?

Good question, actually.

Fairly sure it was Alone In The Dark 1, but largely because my dad and sister played it with me.
Pretty cool actually that your first horror game is basically the grandfather of the genre

Seems like this game takes place in Greenland, right? It's not everyday we see a relevant game happening in such countries. I'll definitely be looking up a bit more about it.

As for me, I was one of those kids who grew up watching FNAF content, so it ended up being the first horror game e beat.

Yeah, the abandoned mines and old labaroty is somewhere in greenland. I like how the game has that opening scene on the ship and outside the hatch in blizzard as tutorial areas basically. As of fnaf i also watched a lot of content on it, its insane how this game boomed from niche indie game into a big fandom

I used to watch my dad play and beat RE ps1 games as a kid but I remember beating RE1 on my own. I remember getting stuck on some puzzles and brute-forcing some.

It's a shame that, just as every fandom that breaks out of the bubble, it attracted many weirdos and degenerates.
Perhaps there's a limit of how much a game can thrive before the community starts destroying it...

Its was cool watching parents or other siblings playing games (at least i think so)/ I used to ask my dad to play ps2 games at that time

Yeah, when community is small its lit af, almost like some sort of niche club in school or smth.

Resident Evil 0 on the Gamecube.

lil' 8 year old Bits thinking he was man enough to play a spooky game.

Silent Hill (PS1), using a guide in an Official Playstation Magazine...

I was immediately hooked after playing the demo from an earlier issue of the same magazine. It is/was, quite literally, the first & only time I was actually HAPPY that I had reached the end of a demo. I was in that much of a panic..

Haha i can imagine. Have you played the full version of SH1 tho?

I thought that was implied; as they don't write guides for demos

I eventually got the Bad+, Good+, and "Alien" endings.. (In that order)
The "alien" ending wasn't even explained in the guide. I had to find that on GameFAQs...

Signalis was the first horror game I completed alone. Other games like SH4 and Fatal Frame I completed while playing with friends (we would pass the controller around)

Silent Hill 1, no guides, no maps rather than the provided ones, no idea you were supposed to save your resources in a Survival Horror game, ah 8yo. me, on the bright side, that's how i accidentally found the kill final boss instantly exploit, obviously i got a bad ending

It can be either cool or frustrating to play games when you got no guides and you like 8y.o. or smth, great memories tho

Frustrating yes, no guide meant i spent a entire half hour trying to figure out the "Stick ball into rainhole" puzzle and ironically the first boss killed me more than any of the rest, but i have a notebook so i felt like Big Brain Time, just to get tunnel visioned into being able to solve stuff easly and hit another roadblock, rinse and repeat

I'm not sure if it counts but Haunted House on the Atari 2600? That game gave me jump scares...not scripted ones but everytime you get caught by an enemy, the walls spaz out and flash, and the sound makes this loud crashing thunder like noise. If it happens right after I pass through a door and I run into an unexpected monster, the whole thing especially if the sound was turned out loud gave me jump scares.

So much so that sometimes I dreaded playing that game as a kid especially on the hardest level.
