Meeting a fellow fan of Warriors franchise was certainly not on my bingo card for December, but a pleasant surprise nonetheless. ::biggrin
Big fan of 8, I grew to love it more on a recent playthrough.
I'm enjoying it more the more i play! the map design in my opinion is very very good although i still prefer dynasty warriors 4 the most. i really want to play all the games again. thankfully there is pc ports available so i can actually give koei my money. by the way dw orgins is looking pretty good so for.

Ninja Jajamaru: The Ninja Skill Book
So, as I mentioned, I did NOT complete this game, because there's a bloody bug in it where you can sell off a plot-critical item for 1 gold. Great! For the record, the collection I bought also has a bug where in-game saving doesn't work, so I had to use a save state whenever I wanted to stop playing and come back. Aside from that, I didn't use any of the other cheats – honest, guv! In complete fairness, I did have some fun with the game until it locked me into a dead playthrough, but it wasn't really anything special. I'll never beat one of these stupid NES JRPGs. I hate them, and everything. HARRUMPH!!!

Instead, I've now been playing a lot of Fatal Labyrinth on the Genesis. (Ooh, can you say NTR? Suck it, Nintendo!) I've had a weird affection for this game – it's a horribly bare-bones roguelike, but it always pops up on Genesis collections as filler, so I guess I've kind of stockholmed myself into liking it over the years. It's very, very difficult, as you'd expect of the genre, about 5 floors too long for my taste, and bland (in every aspect) to a fault, but I'm still having fun with it. Turn-based roguelikes are probably my favourite genre, and playing one on a SEGA console of all things is neat.

I also really like the plinky, ominous title screen music. The whole game has some great Genesis-twangy sound effects.

Indeed. Warriors live and die by their feedback loop and 8 is the most polished and most fun in that regard.
4 kinda used to be my favorite too but a recent replay of all games made me gravitate more towards 5 because of individual character campaigns.

Make that 2.

Make us 3 (I played a lot of Samurai Warriors 4 on PS3 and the Hokuto no ken warriors games on 360. And I am trying to play DW strikeforce)

It's a shame all of the innovation since 8 has been in the spin-offs, like Hyrule, Pirate, and Fire Emblem, but the recent demo for Origins was promising. Kinda overwhelming with all the systems and elements, and they picked a stage where a ton of story events happen outside of your control, but it's exciting nonetheless. Hopes are high!

I played some Marvel Rivals yesterday, as I regret to say they got me with brand recognition alone. Used to play the first overwatch when it first came out, so I'm not uninitiated to hero shooters. It's pretty good overall, I think there's still some balancing issues as to be expected but i enjoyed my time with it and I'll probably actually play more.

Also, I recently played a very cute rogue like action shooter thing called Roboquest- also recommend it, I will also be playing that again soon.

I came across Fatal Labyrinth at a retro shop a few years ago and picked it up after hearing mixed things about it. I couldn't get into it as much as I was hoping, but it had some charm to it. Cool to see a roguelike on the Genesis. I'll have to revisit it someday ...

As for what I'm playing, I'm currently playing through FF III (VI) on the SNES. I've put about 20 hours into the game and am in the middle of the MagiTek Research Facility.

I Played/Completed Dishonored 1 last night without killing or being spotted. When I finished the game I felt like Homer when he finished the blue cheese on that episode.

How did the run go?
Played the game on normal in one night. It's was very cool seeing how to city changed depending if you killed a lot or not (in my run the last level was during the day because I didn't kill anybody). My favorite mision was when you are on the party and you have to duel a random guy. The worst mision (not because was bad but because it was too long ?) was the one when you are capturated and You need to recover your equipment and then you have to infiltrate the assasins base and later you go to the city (that mission also changes depending if you have low or high chaos level). Also I only used like two powers in the entire run. So yeah was a very fun run ?

Playing a bit of Marvel Rivals since it came out.

However I started playing Sam Mallard The Case of the Missing Swan which was uploaded earlier, holy potato I'm absolutely loving this game so far.

What do you think of it so far? I'm curious how other people are enjoying it- most of the discussions online I've browsed are of course entirely polarized as it is the modern internet unfortunately.

I like it a lot.

However I'm absolutely new to the genre, so that's the perspective of a noob. I have zero idea if the game is deep or not, or if it's balanced.

The only similar game I played was Star Wars Hunters (Switch version) which I liked a whole lot. I liked that the matches were short so if I messed up it wasn't that bad and I wouldn't be too much of a dead weight ahah. It felt also accessible et easy to pick up and play.
I assumed that was because it's a mobile game, and didn't know what to expect of Marvel. I actually tried the game to see if it was similar, and because the women were hot (I play Magik  ).

Well actually I play her because I like close combat, and her moveset feels a bit similar to Rieve in Hunters, but way more balanced.

Been playing as well, my wife freaked when I mentioned Jeff the Shark is in the roster, hoping it kicks off a wave of Jeff merch.

Not a bad Overwatch variant, and I love that a game based on Marvel characters finally let an artist get creative, instead of shooting for MCU-synergy and boring designs. The Magneto looks especially good, but I like most of the roster. (I think Namor's armor should be a bit darker to stand out from his hair color though.)

Yeah I can't deny they got that market appeal spot on. Somehow they even managed to make Squirrel Girl tick some boxes.

Overall I'm enjoying it, like I said in my first post I played the first overwatch for a few months at launch but that's been my only real hero shooter experience so I'm far from an expert either.

That's what I think the game does the best too. I love the non-MCU energy of it and the relatively niche character picks around the guaranteed Avengers, even if some of them are in mech suits for some reason (looking at you Moon Knight).

I think there's maybe a little bit of balancing issues but the games new so makes sense. Melee characters seem at a pretty high disadvantage unless their Venom or Iron Fist and have huge mobility- I played some Thor games and it felt pretty rough, his arms seemed like they were maybe 4 inches long or something when I was swinging the hammer.

They did a really good job at the 'character power fantasy' aspect of it where each character really feels authentic to the comic character while being adapted into a hero shooter and being fun to play, with a few exceptions maybe here and there.

I've been playing Ys SEVEN (it's...it's stylised like that). Now Ys X (TEN) is out now and I have played it up to when you can free roam with a ship and crew BUT I really must finish SEVEN first.
I know The Trails of games Falcom make are loved by many (not me, sorry) but I much prefer the characters and writing in the Ys games (not Ys VIII (EIGHT) though, that game does not exist to me). Besides once you know Dogi you'd wish you could have a friend like him.

Another game i'm hoping to complete is Metal Gear Ghost Babel. I failed to finish it on my GBC many many years ago (the second stage of the Metal Gear fight wooped me good), so now i'm playing it on my Vita with the help of save states, and a nice OLED screen.
I really like MG:GB though, the director and editors worked with the limitations of the GBC and produced a game that just cuts out the faff. You get a Metal Gear game that Konami higherups would had meddled with if it was a high budget offering.

I am still playing Linda³ Again, but I also started Postal 2. Real Xmas vibes!!!

Otherwise I am very slowly making my way through NWN2 base campaign. A very flawed game, but not as bad as people say. It fixes some stuff from NWN1, while also breaking basic stuff that was fine in 1. Go figure.

I really like NWN2 personally, though it is another example of "Obsidian makes a broken sequel to someone else's IP". It still isn't as good as Hordes of the Underdark from the first game which is peak of course, but I liked it.

@Octopus Do you have a main character in Rivals or are you trying out a bunch of them ?
I've been trying out a bunch of characters to find what I like more or less and get a handle on the game. So far I've probably played the most with Moon Knight and Rocket so I guess those are my mains right now, but I've also tried a pretty good number of other characters.
-Thor, who I liked even if I did feel like he had T-rex arms.
-Cloak and Dagger (I'm still surprised they're in, that's a niche pick).
-Adam Warlock, greatly enjoyed him and will definitely keep at him.
-Winter Soldier who was pretty fun but I can't aim for shit so I'm not the best on him.
-loved Squirrel Girl as I like explosions.
-Psylocke, will definitely play more of her.
In overwatch I had a 'main' for each character type so I could always try and fit however the game was going, but I also jumped around a lot so I'll probably do the same in Rivals.

Yeah, but for all that's worth I think its better than the base campaign of NWN1 at least. Also I've heard the expansions are great, principally Mask of the Betrayer.
