I'm trying to play through all of the Pokémon games I missed out on when I stopped playing back in 2011. So far I've beaten Black and White and I'm doing post game content in Black 2 and White 2. I still need to beat Heart Gold, Soul Silver, X, Y, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon, Let's Go Pikachu, Let's go Eevee, Sword, Shield, Legends: Arceus, Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, Scarlet, and Violet

Currently playing Racing Lagoon On Duckstation:

It's a Racing jrpg never released outside Japan, with a story (something you don't usually see in racing games, and when they DO have a story, it's usually not that great).
This game got an English Patch so I tried it out.
Although I'm still in Chapter one (Chapters in this game are called Midnights), the game is pretty great, you should try it.

I’ve been playing with fate.
I mean I’ve been playing valkaria revolution
To my dismay.

Instead, I've now been playing a lot of Fatal Labyrinth on the Genesis.
I never mentioned it, but I beat this right before New Year's! It was a fun, if extremely barebones, dungeon crawler, and I did enjoy it, but it's not really anything special and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I was very surprised to see Hirokazu Yasuhara and Naoto Ohshima in the credits, though! This must have been the game they were working on right before they went over to Sonic 1. NEAT! Fatal Labyrinth is impressive for a very, very early console roguelike, and I do kind of like how the game handles "beating" the dungeon, but I don't think the Genesis was really made for a game like this.

Over the holidays, I dropped a bit of Christmas money on quite a few different PSN games, and the one I've been playing over the past week is Burnout Paradise. I know that this game has a reputation as being THE BEST CAR GAME EVER, and as someone who effing hates driving games of any sort, I was kind of curious as to how I'd respond to it. I think I'm getting close to the endgame... I've got my A-Level license, so I imagine the Burnout one's after that.

It's... pretty good? I like that it's open-world, and that there's no buggering story or anything – they just let you loose and you can really do whatever you want. I'm having quite a bit of fun with testing out all the different cars, and the world is really gorgeous (especially for a 17-year-old game!). I even have fun with a lot of the missions... but the game sorely, sorely needed more variety. There are only five mission types, and, honestly, once you've done one "smash the cars" event, you've done them all.

And you need to do a LOT of these fucking missions – A- and B-level licenses make you do over 35 each! All the missions reset once you go up a "level", so you can just do the ones you've already done again, but I can't help feeling it's all a bit redundant. I love open-world games, but I hate it when you're just given a checklist of stuff to do instead of making a little progress with every incremental task you complete, and Burnout Paradise is basically checklist city. It's fun – it is, and I don't even like these kinds of games! But I just see how many missions I have left and kind of groan.

It's definitely a game made for 25+-year-old men to play a little bit every day after work in the year 2009, which I suppose isn't the worst thing in the world. One other thing I'm not really crazy about is the licensed soundtrack – some of the song they chose are very good, but there's way too much Hell's Angels-wannabe tripe (Twisted Sister, etc.), for my liking. And some of the songs are the buggering radio edits, which makes Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" utterly unlistenable! I honestly just don't even listen to the game anymore, I just play a podcast in the background. SORRY

Duuuude I’m legit glad you liked burnout paradise, Even if mildly

I've been playing Harmony of Dissonance since last year. Not a bad game, but certainly not the best Castlevania. Currently, I'm enjoying my vacations playing both Silent Hill 2 and 3, and hot take but the third one is th best out of these two. Also, I started Life is Strange Before the Storm (Chloe Price is the best videogame character ever and there is this game to prove that.) Not the most optimazed game but hey my machine runs it quite ok.

(my english is so bad sorry

I only ever played the first episode of Before the Storm when it first came out – I really must finish the whole series someday – but I liked it a lot, too. Chloe is surprisingly tolerable when she's just on her own, and, honestly, I didn't really miss all the time-rewind bullshit from the base game. I really just like the Life is Strange characters and atmosphere.

I kinda want to do a Zelda stream marathon, but I think I'll start next month so I have weed to smoke while I game. I've been keeping up on collecting them, but haven't gotten to play the mass quantities of good SNES and 64 Zelda hacks that have been coming out the past few years.

I finished SMT VV recently. It had its good points, but its hard for me to like a game solely for gameplay when the story/setting/characters mostly suck. I'll probably try to slowly finish other games I've started in 2024, like Alice Madness and Little King's Story, as I won't have much time for gaming these months...

Been enjoying “Galerians” for the ps1 emulated on my computer, just completed the second part. I have to work on my timing regarding attacks. I struggled a lot with the Birdman fight, but that was probably because I didn’t leave enough healing capsules for myself.

I’ve been enjoying the rule of cool characters designs, I find it rather charming. The setting is also interesting, it’s got that steampunk futuristic, yet 90s technology thing going on, idk about some of the designs dictions for the house though, like the giant clown head over the mc’s bed and how the parents have separate beds(find them pretty funny).

The story is pretty interesting so far, although both sides are pretty bad, just taking down the worse of two evils.

Modern : Elden Ring, first run, i die a lot but learn from every fail.

Rétro : street fighter Alpha, going back to it, love the design.

The rules of this thread are simple: Post what video game you're currently playing, what platform you're playing it on, and what you think of it. Feel free to comment on the choices of your fellow members, too.

Ive been playing WarioWare: Twisted! For the GameBoy Advance. What i think of it? Its one of the best games on the GameBoy Advance, thats for sure! They took every aspect of both the GameCube Mega Party Games and the first GBA entry and put tons of effort into it. Its the first WarioWare game Ive felt compelled to play and finish, and its also home to one of the best songs in the entire game: Mona Pizza! (Although I kinda like the lower octave version of the song than the original higher one featured in the Japanese version and Smash Brawl)

A lot of people are saying that its hard to play the game nowadays but they fail to realize that phones are capable of gryoscope control and that with emulators like MyBoy and Delta, they can run the game on the fly with little to no issues at all. Now for a physical perspective.... good luck.

I'm currently playing Super Robot Wars Z for the PS2! I've been quite enjoying it!

i've been playing persona 4 golden and sonic adventure DX both on pc.
On persona 4 i can say its definitely better directed than persona 3 was, and as a persona3 fan it hurts to admit that p4 is way more engaging in gameplay and writing. So far im at naoto's dungeon and my favorite character is yosuke because he's so real he's just so real.

Sonic adventure is pretty fun so far but its a stalker situation where im really liking it but i cant defend it. the plot sucks the voice acting sucks the levels are all over the place but you start the game and its fun i cant explain it. i beat the tails story about 15 minutes ago and his gameplay was pretty dope i really liked what they did with his flying gimmick.

I need to hop on BoF so badly, I LOVE the artstyle from it
they're pretty good. 4 is the best one imo but all of them are fun(before 5 anyways, i didnt play that one yet).
if you play bof3 it has the same issues with loading times on the ps1 that chrono trigger had. if you can look past that its really good.

I've been playing the Elden Ring DLC on PS4 on and off for the past like 4 months. Since Halloween, I guess. I went to it just before the end of the main game, which was possibly a mistake. The main game is so long and to unlock the DLC is so late in the game that it's awkward to play due to the weird pacing it adds. I really wish games would try to integrate DLC into the main game better if they're going to do it so often.

Also finally started the PS4 remake of Shadow Of The Colossus. The original game, or specifically the PS3 release, is one of my favourite games ever. I do find this remake, outside what the human characters look like so far, very beautiful. I think it clashes with the thematics the original had where the land felt kinda' empty and sad, which made the rides to the colossi a nice counterpoint to the intensity of the colossi fights. But I really, really like how looking down at the river from the castle-area looks, so many other places look and feel so pretty. I wish other games could have worlds like this (Elden Ring's DLC comes close, maybe).

Also been doing a daily playthrough of LSD: Dream Emulator on PS1 where I play one in-game day each real-life day until I beat the game by the end of the year. 21 says in so far and it's already getting repetitive. Not sure if I'd find it better if I binged it for hours at a time for a couple weeks compared to how I'm playing it.

Mostly been playing Freedom Wars Remastered and Mario Kart Double Dash.

Freedom Wars is REALLY fun but very dialogue heavy at times.

Double Dash feels so weird to play to me. I understand the appeal of two player tag team with special abilities that kart drivers can have is actually really cool, But that Driving is so... Not great LOL.

I've actually been playing some Castlevania: Rondo of Blood on the TurboGrafx-16 lately. It's just...perfect. Incredibly consistent from beginning to end, well-crafted...and it just quite never stopped being quite the looker. The art style aged marvelously. Hard to believe it's been over 30 years since its release. Love it.

No wonder ther next game in the series was a direct sequel to it and the psp got a collection of both, it mustve been a big deal in japan

My goal this year is to blast through as many PS1 and PS2 games as possible. We'll, particularly ones I never finished as a kid, or ones that had my interest but never really played. I just finished Xenosaga III, and I'm making my way through Breath of Fire 3 now. I want to start Grandia 3, as I've beaten the first two and loved them, but I'm going to try to keep it down to one RPG at a time lol.

I AM playing something not "retro" and that would be Pentiment, which is one of the coolest games I've ever played.

I think Rondo is my fave Castlevania tied with IV. Love the atmosphere, visuals, and music. It's pretty damn tough, too.

Yeah it's a slow endeavor. Grinding out work and balancing other hobbies means I probably have around four or five hours a week to do any gaming right now. But that's been awesome because too much time can give me a sort of option paralysis or I just hop between too many titles. Now I know if I want to beat a long game, I need to pick a lane and stay there, which helps me actually focus and sink into the game better anyway. It took me like a whole year to beat the most recent Xenoblade Chronicles this way lmao.

I do want to give Koudelka another shot eventually. Somehow, I never got around to Shadow Hearts but it seems like my time of game as well.

Koudelka despite being a wopping 4 discs you can finish in a day or two, it's an awesome mix of Biohazard and RPGs, and has some of the most violent things Ive seen on ps1 (an old lady shootsherself with a rifle and a girl can get her face melted off!) plus it has motion capture! Its quite surreal to see psx models move like that
