In 2010, I was pretty dissatisfied with the PS3’s library of ps2 games and found it lackluster in the musou department, even though i was happy playing Dynasty Warriors 7 and Warriors Orochi 3 when they came out, I got nostalgic for the older games.

This disappointment carried over to the ps4, which didn’t have GTA IV! Now that was a heinous crime. I got an Xbox series cuz it had GTA IV, but I still wanted more.

Later on I got a steam deck and an RG slide and the rest was history. Getting introduced to Linux and Android was a fun experience.

Another piece of nostalgia I had was the Kenji Yamamoto score in budokai 3, omitted in the HD release due to plagiarism scandal. They helped introduce me to a lot of music so I have a lot of sentimental value because of that.

I never really stopped playing them. I never actually owned any consoles newer than the ps2/gamecube and my computer's a mid-range laptop from like 2014 that could barely play any games that were new at the time. I did live with a roommate who owned a ps3 and did play it occasionally but I mostly stuck to games that would actually run on my computer so either retro games or 2d indie games.

For me its Defentially

The Super Chinese Series (WHich consists of Kung Fu Heroes,Little Ninja Brothers,Super Chinese 3,Super Ninja Boy/Super Chinese World 1,Super Chinese World 2,and Super Chinese World 3),i've been playing these alot lately, which recently i beated both "Little Ninja Brothers" and "Super NInja Boy" (to be more specific,it was they're japanese versions I beated.lol)

Mavel Cosmic Invasion (Playstation 4)

Final Fantasy 6 Reimaged Rom Hack

Shadows of the Ninja Reborn (Remake)

Dragon Quest 1 Redux NES ROm Hack

The Pocky and Rocky series (This also includes the recent Pocky and Rocky Reshrined Remake)

Also,I've been replaying Bomberman Hero for the Nintendo 64,which I recently heard the News that the game recently got a Remastered Fan Made PC Port, according to this video:P

That’s pretty sick. Convenience was also a factor to getting me back.

Shit’s too expensive plus I’m a college student so I’m spending $60 for games I’ll be able to play for a month at best. Emulation allows me to have multiple on a single OS at once be any problem is a file deletion or shut down away from being solved. Plus Retroachievements exists. The big consoles won’t even have that for the types of games I play.

I basically never left? I kind of got bored with consoles once the sixth Gen wrapped up. Not that I had a problem with what came after, there just seemed to be more emphasis on style over substance and less about overall fun and good gameplay

Also, I was broke for most of my twenties and emulation was free and plentiful

I never left it either. I am always looking at something new, interesting, or never played before, but I would still pop in old games on occasion. I admit I did use the emulation scene for games I either didn't have, never played before/only played little as a kid, or all of the above.

aint that the truth. Overpriced + no space left means no reason to buy new consoles. Everyone shouts “PC mustard race, consoles need to ketchup!!” but it’s basically the truth.

I presume you physically collect them still? That’s pretty sweet! I lost my collection itch after I got a lot of otome games I was searching for but I’ve been meaning to come back.

I've grown up with old stuff, also I've been broke most of my life so I tend to get older games after their prices have been lowered and they're on sale. Plus old stuff takes up less space so there's that.
Truth nuke, I can’t wrap my head around companies trying to tell you that a 150gb download is no biggie (and the people defending it)

Also if you play on PC you have to periodically upgrade your PC to meet the high specs that most games demand now and that's a pain in the ass.

Yeah. Not to mention, theory of diminishing returns has become harder to ignore after the 7th gen. 6th/7th gen is the perfect period for having all you need to make the video game that you want. After 8th gen, it became a race to cram in as many 4k assets as possible to jack up prices and inflate the value of a game. A mid-range pc gets you really far.

I first got into emulation around 1999,when my younger cousin introduced me to NES,,SNES and Gameboy Emulation, which around that time,I was still gaming the Latest new Nintendo 64 and Playstation 1 games that were coming out at that time like 'Jet Force Gemeni" and "Street Fighter Alpha 3"

The First 3 games I've ever played on Emulation were "KIrby's Adventure",POkemon Yellow, and Super Bomberman 2.lol
