I see some games whose price leave me dumbfounded.

Project Arms for the Switch costing $41 in a sale?! WTF is that?

Also Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age still costing $20 in sales. It's a game which was revolutionary in some ways at the time, but it's also 20 years old or something... Even Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition costs less than that on sale, with heaps of DLC.

Pokemon Z-A with the DLC costing $100 is also quite shocking given how weak the overall package seems to be.

There are some crazy prices around for games.

Pretty much every single modern AAA an AA game right now is overpriced; most modern games are so bad that any price over 10$ is too much.

Also yes, the price for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age and Pokemon Z-A is ridiculous, $20 for a 20 years old game and $100 for a pokemon game is an insult.

Out of sale Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is $50. Almost as much it cost for the PS2 at release. It's a pretty good game, but it's 20 years old and outdated. Crazy stuff.

Kuon. It's a poor game with a badly translated script and bad controls. It only inflated in price when some dork realized it was made by FromSoft. Not worth $50, not worth $1,400.

Persona (PS1). It's a good game, but it is NOT a $400 game.

Final Fantasy I-VI Collection Pixel Remaster (PS4). Just saw this is going for $700. What.

Crusader of Centy (Genesis). $2,000. I mean, yeah, it's a decent game and all...BUT NOT THAT DECENT.

Magic Knight Rayearth (Saturn). $900. Sure, it's, like, the final Saturn game in the US, but holy crappola...!

Aero Fighters (SNES). $3,700. What is it make out of, 100% pure Rhodium!??!

Yeah, to me a lot are overpriced. Why my Steam wishlist only gets bigger cuz even with heavy discounts the games i want don't seem worth it to buy.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild came out almost 9 years ago, it is still $60. Horizon Zero Dawn came out almost 8 years ago, and it is still $50. That's not including deluxe editions or anything like that, just base game. My problem is less with new games being so expensive and more about old games not getting marked down nearly a decade later.

It's rare to see 1st party Nintendo games going on sale. Almost like they're price-fixing like they did in the 80's.

Oh and I forgot I've seen a good variety of horror video games online specifically running a couple hundred USD minimum. I don't know about all of that...

Any games published by team who doesn't believe in regional pricing. It's the Voldemort of video game industry.

Any "collector" or "cult classic" or "modern audience realize this game exist" games as commenter above said.

Any games that is the key to jailbreaking a system. (Cubic Ninja, PS4 .lua Games, Star Wars Racer, etc etc)

And Sonic 2 with a line.

The games that get scalped into oblivion are the ones that bug me the most. People who buy from Limited Run Games just to resell them on eBay, 20+ year old retro games etc.

I think most games have a price I can agree on though. Like, Gotham Knights wasn't the most amazing game in the world, but I had a really good time with it for the $15 I paid for it. I'd have been much harsher on it if I paid full retail price.

Square Tax and Nintendo Tax and Pokemon Tax have been a thing forever, though.

Secondary market was so good before ebay became a thing, those were the good old days. Everything after, all wild unless you luck out.

I don't even own games anymore as I literally emulate pretty much most of the thing. But if I had to say, maybe (almost) every recent Mario games are overpriced? I mean, Nintendo being Nintendo to milk their own franchise with practically the same genre every single release and stuffs. Not sure how much it is, I don't even own Switch, but I'm pretty sure it's way too overpriced. Who knows.

Honestly, any game... i couldn't care less about industry costs, even pre-$70/80.
I just don't have that kind of money. I like to believe someone shouldn't be excluded from culture by lack of resources.

i remember when triple A games were $50. I always waited a couple years as a laggard to buy them for less than 40% of the original price in a sale.

It also has the benefit of hindsight, since most reviewers are shills, politically inclined to give a biased rating regardless of quality and or straight up corrupt.
By waiting years, naturally all problems filter away and a more sincere set of reviewers come out and make it out of love for the medium.
