One of mine is Cuphead. The game is gorgeous and the gameplay seems pretty polished, but, man, that difficulty!

What about you?

I feel the same about Cuphead. I appreciate its style, polish and the effort that clearly went into making that game but the gameplay just does not click with me on a purely personal level. I still sometimes boot it up and mess around for a while though.

saints row (2006). it's laggy, janky, glitchy and the graphics look horrendous at some points but man it is way better than any gta clone i've ever played

Really not much of a personal misgiving on my part, but I love Killer Is Dead. Critics were really mixed on it and tried to blame Suda51/Grasshopper for the Gigglo mini games, but they had nothing to do with that and didn't even want them in the game. That was Kawada publishing who forced them to put the mini game in there. They're not bad nor offensive, but I don't care much for them either. I only did them once to get the upgrades, and that was it. Otherwise, it's a great hack and slash action title, and still has the best combat out of all the grasshopper games. At least until maybe Romeo Is A Dead Man. The game has a pretty cool cel-shaded look too.

Oneechanbara Z2: Chaos. The game is pretty much a seventh generation game on PS4, that could have gotten a PS3 or 360 version since it does reuse more than a few assets, and is a mission pack sequel when you stop and think about it. These issues can be ignored when you realize it has the best combat in the series, has cool character switching moments you can pull off at nearly any time, and has an awesome dub. Especially Amanda Miller as Kagura. The soundtrack is awesome too, even though it reuses some songs from Z ~ Kagura. It's been over a decade since this game came out back in 2014, and the combat still holds up great. Jank included.

COD Infinite Warfare has the best single player even though it's lacking in a memorable villain or organization. The main hero cast carries this game along with its awesome gameplay.

One of my guilty pleasures is a Playstation 1 title called Robo Pit. It was fairly bland gameplay along with some rather annoying music, but I loved the customization options as well as your Robo's WIN/LOSS record kept. It was a head of its time IMO. Still holds up pretty well.

Dragon’s Dogma is a horribly balanced and blatantly unfinished game (the finished product is like 40% of the intended vision) with tons of implemented but barebones mechanics, but I still consider it one of my all-time favorites.
It’s like the posterchild for a ”more than the sum of its parts” kinda game.

And while I enjoyed 2 for what it was, one can’t help but feel that it fell into more or less the exact same pitfalls as the first game.

I don't really care how unbalanced and cheap it can be; Marvel VS Capcom 2 is extremely fun. Same thing with Dead or Alive 4.

That's most people's opinion in general on MvC2. DOA4 I don't remember being that unbalanced, but I wouldn't care either way. It was the first fighting game I bought on 360.

StarFox Assault. Sure, Fox controls on land haven't aged gracefully at all, but that game still remains fun. Always wished to get silver medals just to unlock Xevious, but never managed.

Do you wanna hear me talking about Monster Hunter for the 67th times? Cuz you about to get it.

To this day, Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite is still my favorite in the franchise.

But you have no idea how frustrating it is to play this shit until you try hunting Basarios/Gravios as Blademaster, facing off the almighty dimensional weaver Plesioth, constantly having to micro Hot/Cool Drink and Paintball, inventory is way too limited when running as Gunner, and so many more dated mechanic.

It's not even "misgiving" at this point, but personal fucking vendetta. This is the only game where I actually rage quit, pull my brain stem and bring it to the nearest four-way intersection, and Enraged so hard to a point I turn into Deviljho (read: starving). After finally clear Fatalis on my own and reaching HR8/G2, my mental health and sanity carted into the next hunt.

BONUS RANT ALERT: Palico Bomber is a crimes against humanity.

Rise for when I want to ride Rathian, MHFU for when I want Rathian to ride me.

Oddly enough, the graphics look so much worse in Saints Row 2. Everything looks washed out and hazy.

Mine would be Mass Effect. Despite having objectively the worst gameplay in the franchise, it's the best game in the franchise, IMO. The largest version of the Citadel, the most interesting overarching story, the most expansive game in the franchise despite some complaints about planets being empty (I preferred this over the mining mini-game), and the Mako controls could be wonky but I loved using it.

I also love Mass Effect. Those Mako rides really felt like space exploration.
