I unfortunatly dont play much games anymore because of how bad modern games got (besides passionate indy game projects)
but i took the time to beat castlevania aria of sorrow and both psp yakuza black panther games.
100 percent worth it.

Always meant to play more Castlevania. I've only beaten the first one. Congrats!

Repeat Clears
Breath of Fire (SNES)
Shining the Holy Ark (Saturn)
Paper Mario (N64)
Final Fantasy (NES)
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)

1st Time Clears
Tengai Makyou: Ziria (PC-Engine CD)
Lunar: The Silver Star (Sega CD, completed earlier in the year, replayed for my channel over August-September)
Lucienne's Quest (3DO, completed earlier in the year, replayed for the channel over August-September)

I can't even remember what I had for dinner three days ago, let alone how many games I beat.
Um, let's see...

Armored Core 6
Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth
Rise of the Ronin
Final Fantasy VI (Finally)
A bunch of PS2 games that now blur in my head
About a million different Doom WADs

I'm really drawing a blank here.

Which do you prefer, Breath of Fire or FF1?

Also, is Lunar: Silver Star a fun time? I hear it's due to be re-released

Congrats on FFVI, did you play with a guide? I did and I kinda wish I hadn't ?

Don't get me started on the DOOM WAD's dude....the list would go on for a looooooooooong time xD

Im something of a pro gamer myself so of course I beat games every year.

2024 was a big year of gayming for me introducing me into the world of PS1 era games but before those I beaten the following games:

1-mafia 1 (January 2024)
2-Half life 1 (around April 2024)
3-Half life opposing force (great game really really great infact the greatest HL expansion ever , beaten also around april early may)
4-Half life blue shift (may 2024)
5-crack life in all of its 3 versions (may early June I'm not too sure on the date of this one)

And now for the best time of 2024

7-silent hill 1 (june 2024)
8-Resident evil 1 (worst RE on PS1 beaten late June 2024)
9-Resident evil 2 (july 2024)
10-Resident evil 3 (july 2024)
11-Metal gear solid (july 2024)
12-WarCraft 2 (july/early August 2024)
13-Final Fantasy 7 (August early September 2024)
14- Final Fantasy 6 (late September/early October 2024)
15-Final Fantasy 5 (beaten in date of 29/30 October 2024)
16-Final Fantasy 4 (started playing early on during 30/31 October I can't remember which day exactly I beaten 5 I think in Wednesday , 4 beaten 12 November 2024)
17-Final Fantasy 2 (beaten during November 2024 exact date I think was 22/23)
18-Final Fantasy 1 (December 2024 7th of the month)

If we count custom campaigns from WarCraft 3

-lucrito adventure
-to the bitter end both beaten during January

I began Final Fantasy 8 on a Saturday followed next day (sunday) by liberation of Syria thus I remember the date pretty well , I beaten 8 in 12/1/2025 around 4:30 AM exactly.

I gave you the games with the dates too for timeline correction I didn't realize how many I beaten until now that's a lot man :loldog

Nownownow, I have a poor memory, but I'll see what I can recall:

GTA VCS (the storyline. 100% was done this year)
Living With Sister Monochrome Fantasy
Diablo
Dragon Quest 3
Corpse Party (original, blood covered and book of Shadows)
Beaten tokimeki memorial lots of times
And idk what else I feel like I'm missing smth

I'm not in the mood to play lots of games nowadays...

Which do you prefer, Breath of Fire or FF1?
FF1 was literally the first game I remember playing, so there's a massive amount of sentiment I have for it. Even still, it's a bit of a mess.
Breath of Fire is largely a translation mess, but it does still have its charms. Either way, I don't really have a preference.
Also, is Lunar: Silver Star a fun time? I hear it's due to be re-released
I assume it's gonna be a remaster of the more known Complete on the PS1, and the original Sega CD version has quite a few differences compared to it. While it did fly by me a good bit, it was quite enjoyable (although I'm not exactly proud of my LP run; I made so many stupid mistakes in directions that I may have to redo it).

I actually kept a list last year. I wanted to beat a MINIMUM of 25 games, but I ended up beating many more. Some on this list may be cheating in some way, but the overall list remains something I’m proud of because of several titles that ended up being time sinks.

  • Super Mario Bros. (1985)
  • Doom: Knee Deep in the Dead
  • Sonic The Hedgehog (1991)
  • Sonic The Hedgehog 2
  • Sonic The Hedgehog CD
  • Sonic The Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles
  • Night in the Woods
  • Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels
  • Celeste Classic
  • Astro’s Playroom
  • Final Fight 1
  • Spider-Man Miles Morales
  • Altered Beast
  • Purrgatory
  • SegaSonic The Hedgehog (arcade hardware! At Galloping Ghosts!)
  • The Good Guys
  • Doom Eternal (Main Campaign)
  • Flower (PS3)
  • Hulk Ultimate Destruction
  • Mario & Sonic At The Olympics Arcade 2020 (saw the end credits and got the world record for Swimming)
  • The Darkness II
  • Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
  • Stray
  • Power Stone
  • Astro Bot
  • Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
  • Dimahoo
  • Undefeated
  • The Punisher (Arcade)
  • Sonic Dash Extreme
  • Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa (my partner made me play it and it was certainly a vibe)
  • Sega Bass Fishing (Arcade Mode - GOT 3RD PLACE WITH 17 POUND FISH!)

Platinums:

Astro’s Playroom

The Good Guys (sadly)

Astro Bot

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

(I’m embarrassed by “The Good Guys”. I fell for the trap of “cheap digital game” and felt compelled to get my money’s worth out of the whole thing. It was not worth it.)

around 82 games https://retrogametalk.com/threads/games-you-finished-in-2024.111/post-5888
it helps I documented my progress over at HowLongToBeat otherwise I would have forgotten many.

some of my favorites were Nights into Dreams... since '96 I would casually play it but never finished the game- I would get stuck on the final stages for both characters. Finally took time to really understand the core mechanics and beat it all these years later lol. I played Klonoa: Door to Phantomile for the first time and pleasantly enjoyed the 2.5D graphics. A arcade classic Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams I came around to completing that has everything I love in a horizontal shooter. A hidden gem at least for me was The Legend of Xanadu: Kaze no Densetsu Xanadu II I managed to finish despite not having an English translation instead by using guides online, very fun action-RPG with memorable music. Last is a game I never knew existed Gimmick! I used the hack to balance the controls a bit more, truly a one of a kind game.

That's a killer line up of PS1 games you completed last year, holy smokes.

I really like Resi 1. It's my favourite of the original trilogy. Then 3 then 2. I can see why it'd be some people's least fave though.

Amazed you didn't get burned out going through so many FF games in order. I don't think I've ever completed back-to-back turn-based games without something in between... probably cos they take me so long to beat!

Yes I get why people adore the PS now ::agree it really had bangers.

I found RE1 not scary at all save for tyrants when I saw made me freeze a bit and chimeras made me panic lol , its issue is a delay in animation which resulted in my head getting sliced multiple times by hunters , wasting 1 extra bullet on zombies cuz I mistook that they aren't on the ground yet cuz SLOW animation , I gotta say the mansion is mysterious and the game puzzles are very strong but zombies are so stupid its hilarious they pump in walls instead of attacking me.

My mind was and still is blown by Final Fantasy with each installment well save for 2 and 1 I played them just because im on a quest to finish every Final Fantasy title ever 2 has a better intro than the entirety of the game I gotta say im a little less critical of 1 now it didn't suck as much , but well guess what? Im back to Final Fantasy again with tactics been playing for 2 weeks so far with 30 hours invested will probably follow it up with 9 and chrono games or the clock tower games been sometime since something spoke me.

Congrats on FFVI, did you play with a guide? I did and I kinda wish I hadn't ?
Nah, no guide. I don't really like to overthink starting a new game, but that also means I don't keep a list or remember super well everything I've beaten either lol.

I finished Amid Evil, and Steller Blade too, now that I think about it. I got my first 1CCs in Donpachi and DoDonpachi too.

Zelda II the Adventure of Link (Switch, FCEUX, NES Classic, now working on NES.)
Zelda Link to the Past and Triforce of the Gods
Return of the Hylian
Jumping Flash
Kings Field II Pilot Style

Bust-a-Move 2 Arcade Edition (PSX)
Gunvolt 1's good ending, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, pretty sure I beat the OG Ace Attorney trilogy last year, Rosenkreuzstilette, Blue Revolver: Double Action (on free play), Graze Counter GM with multiple characters, all Mega Man World games except 2 and 4. I hated World 3 so much, a spike pit clearly meant for Rush Jet on the stage where you obtain Rush Jet is diabolical, did no one play test that shit?!

HOLY SHIT, there's a video on that exact Mega Man stage
