What games changed you

chrono cross, the music and the fantasy of it all broadened my sense of imagination so much, that in my adulthood i still daydream and imagine vividly as if i were a kid lazing away playing my ps1 during summer vacation...懐かしい。。。

Gotta be the first one to say Dark Souls. It changed my outlook on difficulty. Before that, I used to give up rather easily. Then, I started to put up more effort in video games -- sometimes, too much effort, to the point of putting up with straight up bs.

Persona 4 and 5 had some real thought provoking themes and interactions. Disco Elysium also made me think quite a lot about about some aspects of my life and world views.

That's that "thank you Dark Soul" effect

I check out Disco Elysium after this and man, even the art style feels like one of those old paintings
It tells a story without words

Pokemon Red/Blue changed my very core of my being as a child. I used to be a child who enjoys a video game once in awhile, but once I got my hands on Pokemon my concept of gaming fundamentally changed. The way Pokemon got me to interact with other people who had the game, challenging myself by clearing the game with different teams and following all the media and getting other Pokemon games pretty much turned me into the turbo nerd that I am today. It changed my childhood to the point where I sometimes wonder where I would be today if I never got Pokemon Red as a kid.

Torchlight 2 did a number on my brain lol. I used to be drawn to RPGs for their stories, but after running TL2 dungeons twice over, and then the randomly generated maps afterwards, I become obsessed with grinding loot. I would be lured into more and more colorful Skinner boxes: Risk of Rain, Borderlands 2, Warframe, Destiny, Vampire Survivors, Holocure; Anything that made number go up I was hooked on. I even find myself playing those dumb idle game on mobile now.

Oh yeah, that's the power of Pokemon

And I thought I was the only one, some mobile mobile games are underrated though

Soul Reaver Legacy of Kain influenced me the most as a fledgling
even now i still walk & talk like Raziel
i can't jump as high as him or glide yet but my vampiric powers are still infantile
