What game do you consider the peak of a franchise?

Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix.

I will always go out of my way to say that it's rather overrated and it's always an annoyance when some fans always just want another version of this game as a future entry (hell, I think the first games world design blows it out of the water), but there's a reason why the plot and combat are still lauded as one of the best on THE highest selling console of all time. When we humans inhabit other planets, we'll still be unequipping Dodge Slash.

I didn't see it posted here yet so here's mine; Spyro 2.

Most people seem to prefer Spyro 3 but I think Spyro 2 is the actual peak of the trilogy. That's not saying 3 is bad, just not as good. The levels in 2 are memorable for me and really nice to explore. The orb challenges are fun without (most) being frustrating. Ripto is a great villain for the game compared to Gnasty Gnorc or The Sorceress. I also think the general aesthetic of the game is far more pleasing than 1 or 3. It's just a great 3D platformer with enough small distractions and deviations from the core gameplay to keep things fresh and engaging for its playtime. For me, 3 goes too far in the alternative gameplay direction (skateboarding, SGT Bird levels, Agent 9 Levels, Sparx levels, etc) and on the whole I just don't like the Spyro levels as much.

Even though I have the most nostalgia for Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 3 was the peak of the franchise. It had the most hype, the launch day events were as big as those for new console releases, and the game delivered on all of it. It felt like the last time a game released with that kind of hype and launch events. Everyone was ready to "Finish the Fight."

How we went from Halo 3 to where the Halo franchise is right now is just depressing.

I agree with this a lot. imo the plot in kingdom hearts 2 is made so much better by playing 358/2 days and birth by sleep tho. but I'll always have more nostalgia for KH1...

yes rayman 1 was rushed and unpolished but it is a great game
i like the the artwork its good but it could have been better
the ost is good
difficulty its a hard game but not insane hard

i do not like rayman 2 and 3

rayman legend and origin are way better than rayman 1
and i find both those game are more balance it not to hard and not to easy
both of those game one can enjoy playing

its just that rayman legend and origin have to modern feel for me i like old retro games

so i placed rayman 1 as the best rayman game because its the rayman i like the most

-Rastan 3 Warrior Blade
While Rastan 1 was a Peak action-sidescroller and Rastan 2 a dissapointment , was Rastan 3 the perfect non-Golden Axe experience that overshadowed Golden Axe itsself . Badass Fantasy and a playable Not-conan of cimmeria . Its the true peak of the series.

-Final Fight 3
The Soundtrack is awesome , the new moves and mechanics were improved the gameplay immensly and the multiple Pathos Made this Game so great . This is what Peak Performance looks like !

-Castlevania Bloodlines
If its about Vintagevania , im all for Bloodlines . While SC4 was a great Remake overall , Bloodlines slammed a powerhouse of a soundtrack , awesome mechanics , great and challenging levels spiced up with such awesome style that it is indeed one of the best Vintagevanias overall . Iron blue Intention is my perma-jam !

-Silent Hill 1
This game gets it. Best atmossphere , Soundtrack and main-character overall . The City was much more impactfull to explore than in other Games and the old graphics even enchanced the atmossphere too . While 2-4 were Peak on their own too (and my favourite Trucker beat em up SH Origins ) SH 1 just nails it perfectly .

-Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1
While there is no Punisher and Venom in the game , its still an awesome Beatem-up diablo-clone with alot of healthy old school Marvel awesomeness that the MCU will never reach and content that is still hard to top it . Even MUA 2 and 3 are inferior towards the classic. Excelsior !!!

-Max Payne 2
While MP3 perfected the gameplay , i think MP2 was the peak of its story-telling and style. I miss when games have more melancholic stories that stay consistent in its tone and were even with action-packed gameplay , desaturated in a endearing and entertaining kind of way like Soul Reaver . Very intellectual and poetic in its delivery which lacks in nowadays games very often . Max Payne 3 was for me like an Hang-over made into an videogame .

-Splatterhouse 3
While its flawed , its still the best of the series. The gore , the Soundtrack , the Level design and the mechanics Made it into great game . And it has the best Intro theme ever . And the replay-value just is the icing on the cake . It feels a bit incomplete but its still the Peak of the series.

-Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate + 3
Awesome games with soooo much content to unlock . With both games you get extra content for both games which makes the deal even much better than IT already has . That is Peak gaming right there .
