This thread makes me realize I don't actually use a lot of emulators outside of Dolphin and Duckstation lol, I have too much hardware. really it just seems a lot of the hot new stuff isnt so great on linux yet.

Nintendo
NES - Mesen (Libretro because shaders)
SNES - Mesen (retroach for shaders, standalone for MSU-1)
Nintendo 64 - Ares, unless the game lags alot on real hardware then i use RMG for overclocking
GameCube / Wii - Dolphin
Wii U - Cemu, requires a real WiiU still imo for some games like Nintendo Land for sure
Switch - Ryujinx, but 1080p is fine so I prefer my real hacked switch
Game Boy - SameBoy Libretro
Game Boy Color - SameBoy or BGB if i want a better color pallete
Pokémon mini - PokeMini_libretro for the shaders to make it look authentic.
Virtual Boy - Beetle VB, because it supports 3D monitors
Game Boy Advance - mGBA for the Shaders. I wish NanoBoyAdvance had a Libretro port core for added accuracy and MP2000 sound engine.
DS - MelonDS, unless the game uses DisplayCapture then I use DeSmuMe for proper upscaling
DSi - MelonDS (many games dont work so you need a real DSi for those)
3DS - Citra and forks, but im excited for Panda3DS having ubershaders. Gonna need a real 3DS for rythm games though imo

Sega
SG1000 - MAME
Master System - Genesis Plus GX
Mega Drive - Genesis Plus GX
Saturn - Mednafen
Dreamcast - Flycast with Redream as a fallback
Game Gear - Genesis Plus GX
Nomad - Genesis Plus GX
VMU - ElysianVMU

Sony
PlayStation - Duckstation (or XEBRA when using PocketStation)
PlayStation 2 - PCSX2
PlayStation 3 - RPCS3
PlayStation 4 (Pro) - ShadPS4
PocketStation - MAME when no PS1communication is desired, otherwise PK201+XEBRA
PlayStation Portable - PPSSPP
PlayStation Vita - Vita3K one day... For now my real PS Vita (TV) because Vita3K is way too buggy

Microsoft
Xbox - Xemu, wont run all games properly so have a real Xbox on hand, its easy to hack.
Xbox 360 - Xenia but not really because its too buggy imo and 720p games look fine on real hardware
DOS-based - Dosbox-X
Windows 9x series - DgVoodoo2 > Virualbox-SOFTGPU > QEMU-3DFX > 86box

iOS - touchHLE

NEC
PC-6001x - PC6001VX
PC-88x - ePC-8001
PC-98x - Neko Project 21/W or Neko Project II depending on the graphics subsystem
PC Engine - Ares
PC-FX - Mednafen

Atari
2600/2800 - Stella
5200 - Atari800
7800 - MAME
Jaguar - BigPEmu
Atari Lynx - Mednafen

SNK
Neo Geo - FinalBurn due to runahead/pre-emptiveframes in Retroarch

Bandai
WonderSwan and WSColor - Ares, shaders+accuracy

Fujitsu
FM-7 - XM7
FM Towns - Tsugaru

Sharp
X1 - eX1
X68000 - px68k

Sinclair
ZX Spectrum - FUSE

J2ME - FreeJ2ME_Plus
BREW - Infuse, if it doesnt work: Melange on a big tablet or mirrored to my TV
PalmOS - Mu

I just use Retroarch for everything up to the 5th gen due to crt shaders, and every console after that only has like 1 decent emulator so i just use the best option that's out for them right now (PCSX2 for PS2, Dolphin for Gamecube and Wii and RPCS3 for PS3)

Amiga- Retroarch (working on it)

Neo Geo Pocket- OpenEmu

Neo Geo AES- FightCade but I may one day get a dedicated emulator

Switch: Ryujinx (but only for fringe games that either never got localized or released en masse so I couldn’t buy all the $60 within the sale lifetime)

Never had a reason to start emulating Xbox consoles, I’d probably just play Blinx and Otomedius

Playing this game at 120fps at 4k feel surrealistic i've just been staring at it with my mouth wide open for 20 minutes

I need this for Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Fable 2, Infinite Undiscovery, Blue Dragon, Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, Kameo, The Viva Piñata games, Sonic Free Riders, and the Gears of War games.

Definitely agree on lost odyssey, infinite undescovery and blue dragon, wouldn't mind n3 either.
Eternal sonata i have a hate/hate relationship with.

Saints Row 1, Crackdown 1 and 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Perfect Dark Zero.
So many games stuck on Xbox.
And the Armored Core games also would be nice to have PC ports for, eventhough theyre on PS3 aswell.

GameCube/Wii: Dolphin, obv
DS: MelonDS
PS1: Mostly DuckStation, but sometimes PS3
PS2: PCSX2
3DS: Citra
N64: Rosalie's Mupen GUI or sometimes a Mupen RA core
PSP: PPSSPP
Xbox: Xemu
Saturn, GB/GBA, Mega Drive, Master System, etc: whatever RetroArch core works /shrug

NES - Nestopia
SNES - Zsnes
GBA - VisualBoyAdvance
GB/C - TGB Dual
DS - Desmume
GC/Wii - Dolphin
3DS - Citra
Switch - Yuzu

PS1 - ePSXe
PS2 - PCSX2
PSP - PPSSPP
PS3 - RPCS3
PS Vita - Vita3K

MegaDrive - Mednafen
Saturn - Mednafen
Dreamcast - Redream

NGArcade - Kawaks
NGCD - NeoRaine
NGP/NGPC - Mednafen

Arcade - Kawaks
Everything else - RetroArch

NES: FCEUX
SNES: Snes9x
Genesis: Kega Fusion
GBA: VBA
NDS: DeSmuME
PS1: Duckstation
PSP: PPSSPP
PS VIta: Vita3K
PS2: PCSX2
3DS: Citra

I play most stuff on my modded 3DS nowadays. There I use:

NES: VirtuaNES
SNES: Snes9x
GB and GBC: mGBA
GBA: open_agb_firm
Mega Drive: PicoDrive
DS and Game Gear: Twilight Menu++
3DS and DSiWare natively

Outside of my 3DS I use:
PS1: Duckstation
PSP: PPSSPP
MSX: openMSX
PC-98: Neko Project 21/W
GameCube and WiiWare: Dolphin
N64: Mupen64Plus

Everything standalone because I don't like RetroArch, except when it comes to Mega CD emulation because I haven't made the switch in that case yet. I use the Genesis Plus GX core for that.

I see everyone uses mednafen for saturn, i didn't manage to discover how to use it. dragging the rom into the bat file opens it, but no idea how to set up controllers and such.
Seems like i have to take a "GUI" for it somewhere, but didn't find which one is the best option nor a reliable place to get.

I've been using bizhawk for saturn. is mednaffen better than this one or are they the same?

Thanks and sorry the bad english.
