What do you use Discord for?

Years ago, thanks to a friend, discovered discord.
I made a bunch of friends, convinced them to migrate to discord (from other medias),
another friend of mine created a small server on the fly. people came and went.
time passed and now I'm on another server, about music, as an admin.
just watching, waiting as they connect and disconnect. and using it as an emergency backup for some stuff.

Various. I'm in many varied servers of varied interests/topics. Most, I'm not active in. I have a server myself. There are a few sprite animation servers where I share my WIPs to for feedback purposes. I also share the WIPs to my server too. Servers aside, I also use Discord for DMs occasionally.

I use Discord to post AI Art. I am in three AI art servers that I am regularly on. I am also in an independent VTuber server as well.

If I can avoid, I don't use it. I have had to use for my previous job but now I don't have it installed anymore. And I also don't like the fact that many communities migrated to discord servers (I don't know, I really prefer the forum style for online communities, less chaotic, more easy to find stuff, in my opinion). I don't have many friends so we always chat via WhatsApp.

Originally I made my discord account to keep up to date on some game projects I was interested in and eventually it spiraled out of control and now I'm at the maximum limit of servers I can be on without nitro

It's so bad. It's laggy and forces you to give your phone number.
Customer service doesn't care.
Just so you know it saves all your chats and sells your data.
Like google, apple and facebook meta products, whatsapp, even twitter DMs.
Windows from version 10 onwards, same problem.
For real privacy, just talk. But still, your smart TV and phone near you are wifi microphones

There's not much to do about it. Of course you can switch to a safer platform, but some people need to use Discord cause of it's convenience. The surveillance is real, try to find less mainstream and more open source platforms but don't let it get over your head, or you'll end up crazy and paranoid of everything.

I read that as "without nointro".
