I'm too stubborn like really too much , i don't give up easily.
In RE3 i once tried for some 2-4 hours on 2 different gaming sessions to beat the water puzzle.
In metal gear solid i fought mantis for the same period of time until the colonel told me how to beat him.
IIn parasite eve 2 i ran around way too much until i figured how to solve the cashier puzzle same for colored blocks puzzle.
IIn Final Fantasy 7 i spent 3 days running around looking for the Blackstone without running into the weapon trader that says he sold it to a rich man.
UUsually taking a break like others said allow you to think things better and come up with a better plan.
If approaching matters this way doesn't work try something else.
If I like the game I will put it aside, come back to it and hopefully figure it out with a fresh mind. If i'm not too pushed about the game, I will glance at a walkthrough, just to move it on because i'm only killing time with it.
