After seeing Misfortune: A Story of Suspicious Friendships (Yaku: Yuujou Dangi)
got translated I downloaded it immediately and played a bit of it.
Played through 2 rounds before deciding to take a break (which is currently now). I love the game play loop, I adore when stories change character povs, so it’s even better when I get to swap between them myself.
It’s rather janky, which can be deduced by just looking at the cover. I really don’t mind jank, I actually seek it out. But here are my complaints-
The music, there’s not very many tracks, their short, worst part is that they cut off and restart in between shots.
There is also the long repeated cut sense(most just walk cycles), but you can kinda skip them by clicking start but it takes a good second for it to continue on with the text. Plus no text skip, which is a bit tedious for a game where you’re ment to keep replaying through the same parts - it isn’t that big a problem though, since each play through is rather short.
Unlike other games where these things would probably drive me slightly crazy, I think these add to it. Since it’s so short, and everything about this game is absurd it’s extremely (at least for me) easy to look past these problems, instead actually deprive some enjoyment from them.
