I've dusted off my old 2DS from storage and I remember using it a lot for playing every Shin Megami Tensei available in it that can also be emulated. Now i'm planning to use it again since I'll be traveling around a lot. any suggestions what software I can add?

I've heard a lot of progress in the homebrew scene. both gaming and non gaming (ex. putting fun stuff like music or anything else im general) suggestions are okay

You should dive into the gamebrew.org page of the 3DS to find a lot of neat stuff, use the universal-updater app within the console as well since it can install homebrews directly from the console, most of the interesting things like apps, emulators, tools, mods and such can be found within those 2 places.

As for the elephant in the room, the hshop has all the 3DS games ever free of charge, there's even an 3DS app to download the games directly from the console.

And uhhhhh there's a lot more but since I use the console more for a ton of japanese region games I wouldn't know what to say.

I like the Zeta pfp by the way :)

I recommend checking twilight menu if you don't have an R4 but want to play a lot of DS games. Also there's a lot of great games with english translations for example DQ Monsters Joker 3.

-Play any nintendo handheld game, either through emulation or natively
-Use the online features like streetpass or miiverse through pretendo
-Play quite a lot of homebrew ports
-Use discord, if you're insterested in that
-Read books and comics, I'm pointing that out since the 3DS sorta feels like a book when you hold it the other way.
-Watch 3D movies
-Making drawings or music(there are a surprising number of apps for that but I'd say you need an XL if you ever think about drawing)

A lot, actually. I personally use mine as an all-in-one classic Nintendo handheld machine. You can play every generation of Pokemon on there that matters.
