Board games, the realm of everlasting memories...
Games played for generations, and still today.
What are the board games you hold the most interest in?
Not necessarily the best or most famous, but the ones you hold close to your soul.

As for the ancient me, I checked, and Chess is my soulmate, even if not a master in it I am.
How about you, gathered souls?

Key to the Kingdom is straight-up awesome.

Interest, but not good ☹️:

Igo (Go)
Stratego (and its derivatives)
Risk (I suck at this)
CATAN (this one I never played before IRL, but it looks so interesting)

Go, another game I hold in high regard.

As for the others, I have yet to explore them.
All seem promising… Risk, in particular, intrigues me.

My sincere thanks for bringing these grounded games to my attention.

It's Chess for me too. (and i'm rather active in it)
I love Go too, but haven't played it for years... i should try it again!

Other board games that i love includes:
Mensch

Snakes and Ladders

No prob 👍

Always got my ass kicked in Risk; never won by proper decisions on "spread" deployment, instead I had to stick to the basic concentration of forces principle (which is for beginners) and still get my ass kicked if I'm unlucky

What heavily attracted me to CATAN was the miniatures, I'm a sucker for those

Terraforming Mars, without any hesitation.
Deep, slow paced gameplay with lot of strategy paying of in the late game.
Best game ever

Interested in this as i need it for my growing Goosebumps collection, no idea how to play it though.

interest is a pretty good word for how i feel about board games since i havent really had the chance to really get into them atm but i would say those include
cyberpunk 2020
punk is dead
and mahjong i play every once in a while though i wouldnt say im good at that

Casual games?

Checkers, chinese checkers Loteria (Basically Mexican Bingo with figures rather than numbers and letters) and Othello/Reversi

Comercial ones?

Monopoly, Uno, and Connect Four

risk, monopoly, uno

these were my jam especially uno but oh boy nowadays i can't explain how much it makes me question my life choices, everyday at school when me and my friends have nothing in a period we pull out uno and play it till the time runs out, my friends always makes up rules that god knows when you'll hold you on much longer. sometimes we fight about it mostly playfully but there's days we actually fight and a teacher would pop up behind us. because of the recent fight about uno it became very unimportant pick when it comes to board games but i still play it anyway lol

Maybe the ones that I liked as a child and played with my siblings and uncles. There was

Star Wars Escape from the Death Star
Micronauts the board game
Ms. Pac-Man
Sorry
Clue (or Cluedo)
Oh What a Mountain
Splish Splash
Bonkers

Though there are two that stand out particularly.

One is Milton Bradley's The Lord of the Rings which was based on the Ralph Bakshi adaptation and released much earlier than Peter Jackson's movies. That was a great source of tears (from my sister usually), promoted warfare and tension in our family and a source of unforgettable (but not particularly joyous) memories. In spite of that, we still talk about it and would like to play it again if we ever find a working copy of that game by some miraculous means someday.

The other is an old Avalon Hill board game called Outdoor Survival. I particularly liked this one because unlike all our other board games, you can actually play this by yourself so it's almost like a videogame. It's composed of a big wilderness map and you keep track of your food and water levels, along with hazards and the name of the game is to survive and achieve your pre-established goals if you're doing a solitaire run or perform best if with others. I spent countless hours playing this one by my lonesome when no one wanted to play the other board games and had great fun with it.

When I was a kid I had this game called

1983-crossbows-and-catapults-v0-knn3k5fmt98b1.jpg

you basically had to build two castles and try to knock the other players stuff down.
My parents had a lond hardwood hallway that everything slid down, we set up there for maximum effectiveness. Even though I cannot remember the nuances of the game ,I still love it and have great memories.

I had this one and it was completely awesome. I managed to get my hands on one from a car boot sale for like 50p and me and my friend would play it for hours.

In some ways I can see why games like this didn't survive beyond a certain era. I remember this fucker as well:

It was yet another game that required you to shoot actual physical projectiles at the other players units to try and knock them out. Pretty sure most of the time we just took it in turns shooting at each other and ignored all of the actual movement rules and shit.

Just remember being obssessed with this one because it was on the TV a bunch as a kid, and advertising is evil. Actual game is a bit shit tbh lmao

These days I'd much rather play something like Cavern Tavern.
