Now I am aware this has prolly been asked a thousand times elsewhere and I apologize for being lazy. You see I'm currently under going treatment for health conditions I'll spare the details of that require me very long stents in a local hospital and as you could guess it's boring, no no more boring than that your thinking! Being small town America the facility is ......behind in the times you could say and I have legit maybe three channels to watch that have programs I enjoy (wow that makes me sound old as hell) anywho I'm looking for titles to get me through this trying time.
I enjoy rpgs mostly (final fantasy, pokemon , fire emblem , shin megami, even off beat ones like Robotech and harvest moon) I'm a huge mecha fan as well which wins me over nearly everytime, as well as a avid rouge lite player which doesn't set the requirements of my request just details I thought I would put out there.
You have no idea how greatful I am for your time as well as your efforts to those who post. It's hard, very hard living through this and your genuinely helping me and I will try nearly any games you post.

Thank you from the bottom of my soul good people of the forum. I hope you all have a great day!

I've really enjoyed SMT Nocturne hardtype. Usually I'm not a fan of hacks that just make the game more difficult but this one is different. It's a complete revamp of the game with completely new skills and quality of life enhancements. Link to hardtype for more details: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3299/

while I havent played it I've heard that Tactics Ogre One Vision for the psp release is pretty good.

I also really like Secret of Mana Turbo and it's my preferred way to play the game now.

One of the greatest romhacks of all time in my opinion is Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 4.
An absolutely fantastic love letter to DBZ.

Here's a link to the official site made by the team behind it:

If you're looking for a Pokemon experience then may I recommend you Pokemon Crystal Clear.
It's a second gen romhack that takes the original game and turns it into an open-world experience.
Here's a repo link:

I'm sorry for what happened to you. I wish you a quick recovery and I hope you'll never have any business in hospitals. As a person whose childhood mostly spent in hospitals and I was really sad to witness what bad happened to people there because my mother worked there and I had a few short personal experiences in hospitals for very temporary medical conditions I could get rid of fortunately, perhaps I'm more negatively sensitive to even look at hospitals more than most people. Even as a grow ass man now I can hardly play hospital levels in horror video games lol. Hospital horror is in a dimension that I cannot even explain. For me it's not just a bad place for what happened to you or your loved ones, it's a warzone in another way.

As for game recommendations, I'm glad this wonderful website offers game hacks that unlocks content and offers uncensored patches that I cannot comprehend why non-Japanese versions of games are ripped to cut content for the sake of censorship. Despite how "not large" it may be one of the greatest example is Breath of Fire 4. If I were in the hospital Breath of Fire 4 could be perhaps the one important game that could help me keep my sanity in hospitals. It's a turn based RPG that really look pleasing and rather a serene games that makes me always feel good despite what negative it happens. I hope you can enjoy it even if you never had a chance to try this amazing game. No worries, it can be played as a standalone game you don't have to play the previous games. In that context it's like Dragon Quest games, in which, Dragon Quest IX is my favourite. The ability to even create your own companions, great sense adventure and somewhat deep story is very engaging! I know DQIX would help me in hospital too like a mental shield lol.

However there are really not specific games I can recommend because no game I cared about has hacks or significant hacks. All I can say is this website has way more than you can imagine so you can find fan games, lots of hacked games that make games harder in a way I imagine it offers a great new sense of gameplay. I advise you to explore here a lot because you can find way more than you could dream if it would exist or not. From what I saw especially there are tons of such Pokemon games here but I never cared to play Pokemon games therefore cannot recommend a specific hack. Perhaps as anyone else I just play the yellow and red and then forgot about the franchise.

I wanted to say these but I wasn't really helpful to you whatsoever. I'm sure there are lots of people who knows about this topic more than I do.

sorry about what happened to you, i wish you to get better sooner.

now as for romhacks... aside from undubs & ENG translation/re-translations:

Shogun Mario 64 was an fun mod/hack Super Mario 64, you can literally shoot through every door and experience every painting https://retrogametalk.com/repository/n64-roms/shotgun-mario-64-hack/

Persona 2 Innocent Sin Dlc unlocker hack was an interesting one, you can experience every JAP exclusive quests in Climax Theater https://retrogametalk.com/repository/psp/persona-2-innocent-sin-dlc-enabler-mod-hack-2/

Bulk Slash is one of my favorite mech games. not only this one is a ENG translation, but also it adds the twin stick controller support and ENG dub (undub is also available) https://retrogametalk.com/repository/sega_saturn_isos/bulk-slash-japan/

Gran Turismo 4 Spec II is one of my favorite mods/hacks. it adds lot of new contents and features and also a lot of improvements https://retrogametalk.com/repository/ps2-iso/gran-turismo-4-spec-ii-hack/

Fire Emblem Sacred Echoes has been amazing to play so far and can't imagine going back to the original version of Shadows of Valentia. It has plenty of QoL added to it along with additions like the 3rd tier classes with expanded level caps, a few new OG units to fill in the roster (thief and axe user), and plenty more.

Pokémon Team Rocket Edition: Dragonsden Version (not the same romhack on the repo btw). This romhack has you play as a grunt of Team Rocket at the start but you eventually move up the ranks as you go through Kanto. Along the way you will get to experience the memorable moments of Team Rocket plus some new ones while seeing Red and Blue's stories unfold. When you finish Kanto you still have Sevii Islands and Johto to go through which have their own new changes but in the future you will be able to go to Hoenn as well.

As for features it has has the usual physical/special split from gen 4, replaceable and unlimited TMs, Pokemon moves from up to gen 8 (some from gen 9), incredibly high money cap, indoor running, trade evolutions removed with alternatives to evolve (like new stones), new Pokémon (Rocket experiments, unique Pokémon...) with lore that explains their presence within the canon, plenty of new sidequests and optional events, new maps, and customized music for battles or unexplored areas in FireRed.

Any GBA hack that improves color.

Don't get me wrong, the GBA is my favorite portable of all time but in retrospect it's screen made more harm than good in most games.
