What are your favorite romhacks?

Zelda 2 Redux, turned a overlooked entrty into a genuinely fun game

Not only that but in BSNES HD with HD Mode 7 and Widescreen it basically gives you the definitive way to play the game.

I do wish there was a way to mix it with MSU-1 OSTs but I still like the original soundtrack.
How is the widescreen patch for it anyway? Might look into trying it out sometime since I've usually been content playing in the original 8:7 w/ CRT filter

And yea that's a shame, although I still prefer the OG soundtrack over any custom music. I guess I'm just a purist like that...

It's not really a patch per se, more like an option built-in for the emulator that allows you to play Mode 7 games with that ratio (and has an option to play any game but it's not recommended).

I also have a Super Mario Kart hack that removes the lower part of the screen (with the map) so you'd have a pseudo-full screen mode (although your kart is still in the upper part as the game was intended with this in mind).

I wish this was an option you could do on the fly but I'm fine with the SNES OST as it still sounds good even to this day.

A lot of romhacks just change levels around or change a characters look but there was one game that added something i never seen before. normally in rpg games there is a message box and its just letters you read. this has been this way for ages. But a guy made a romhack where he added voice lines so the characters spoke. hearing characters speak who arent meant to talk just blew me away.

This was done on the gameboy advance which made it more impressive.

Metroid: Rogue Dawn really impressed me. It feels like an actual high-quality NES game rather than an unofficial hack. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
