Movies What are your favorite horror movies?

Trick 'r Treat.
Trick 'r Treat [DVD] [2007] : Amazon.it: Altro

Haven't seen this one, looks crazy.

omg that's so cool, got any pictures?
Unfortunately, it was not allowed to take pictures. There were a few days or weeks where you could go and visit it, probably to promote the movie. I actually found out because one of the workers of the cinema told us when we went to watch the movie. It was funny because before we watched it we were like "ohhh, cool, let's go to see it!", and after we watched it it sounded more like "emmm, do you want to go there?" lol.

This is the facade of the building:

I think it’s done before but from what I remember it’s about a certain user asking some horror movies for his/her to watch. But the thread kinda long buried and I’m a lazy person I won’t try to dig it up.

And since this thread is here might as well post my favorites

I'm pretty casual when it comes to horror movies, so just give me almost any of the ones that have been franchised to death:

Friday the 13th
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Saw
Final Destination
Child's Play
Scream
etc,

Don't think it's obscure or a hidden gem or anything, but Psycho Goreman is a pretty fun Horror/Sci-Fi/Dark Comedy kind of thing that came out like 4-5 years ago.

Haven't been watching deep horror cuts this year, really. Mostly watching stuff I've never seen before. I will say, after the Uzumaki anime came out and it was disappointing after the first episode I watched the live-action movie and was surprised how much I liked it. It has some of the same issues of being too short, but it really nails the atmosphere of the first few chapters of the manga, I'd say. I recommend people check that out.

I also watched the first Tomie live-action movie (or first 2? I can't remember) and that was OK, though not great. Had some cool shots and a neat score, though kinda' boring.

Watched The Machinist last night, which was pretty decent. I can see why people compare it to Silent Hill. One part in particular felt exactly like a stage in SH3. The foreshadowing was maybe a bit too obvious, but it was pretty neat for what it does. I'd call it a horror, though I guess most might just call it a suspense-thriller thing.

Watching through Birdcage(s) Of Horror on Dreamcast right now. Should finish it up by Halloween. It's okay too, but I don't like how it blends two different murder-mystery elements together that drives it from just-barely-plausible to over-the-top. I also don't think this benefits from being 1 min/ per day for a year at all, I don't think they came up with a good way to structure a story like that. If it had branching paths or something, maybe I'd be more interested in it.

Hereditary is a movie that many people talk good about it but when I watched it I only wanted to kill the little girl all the time, but with my bare fists, I don't know why but she gets on my nerves with that stupid sound that tries to be quirky.

I don't watch horror movies in halloween because I watch horror movies all the year, so it wouldn't be different, but if I had to choose some I would recommend turkish horror movies, they are very interesting.

Uzumaki live action is still disappointing imo, but I acknowledge their attempt to put most of the stuff we see in the manga in the length of a movie of its kind... I didn't know there's a Tomie live action btw, I need to watch that asap!

Hereditary is prolly my fav horror/suspense movie of all time, tho. ::cirnoshrug

SAW 1 is the greatest
Sadly the sequels are drastically worse
The Host (2006) is pretty good

saw the last two fairly recently funnily enough

I usually only watch horror movies at the behest of others but I took a liking to a 2010 film called The Shrine. It's not a great movie, certainly not when compared to the other powerhouses posted above, but it took what I initially thought was a straightforward premise and successfully subverted my expectations.

Noroi: The Curse | Rotten Tomatoes

Recently watched this two days ago. It was worth the watch with the creepy rituals.
Borderlands aka The Final Prayer ...

Another found footage movie although its ending is so bleak ::warcraft-skeleton.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a relatively simple (almost amateurish) movie yet set the basis for the slasher genre and I'm impressed that for an early 70's movie they nailed it. Of course Halloween and Friday the 13th refined the formula.

I need to watch Black Christmas but only for December.

On a side note I need to watch the Freddie, Chucky and Scream movies. I am curious to watch Saw but honestly I am not fan of "torture p*rn"...

I'd still say that Cube from 1997 is a great "closed space" psychological horror movie.
