Me personally, i thought the Shaman king 4kids dub actually wasn't bad at all, i mean it was definitely one of the darkest 4kids anime dubs, they also kept some blood and violence surprisingly as well, i know 4kids did some changes to the show tho but i cant remember what details tho. So anyways. any thoughts on this one.

Pretty much like all the other 4Kids dubs: butchered, censored, re-written etc. but at least it made you aware of the series existence, and if you knew where to look you could find the original Japanese version in all its glory.

I will say though; I do still have a soft spot for the intro they made for their version. Not gonna say it's better than the Japanese OP's, but goddamn I'd be lying if I said I hated this:

You can argue that Kirby anime dubbed by 4kids is actually one of their least butchered ones tho, because that show was actually aimed for kids, the cute artstyle also helps too. At least the deaths was kept, and the japanese food names stayed intact. The only issue is that the OST being replace by 4kids generic soundtrack, but thats always the case by almost every 4kids anime dubs so yeah.... but you probably may not agree with me tho.

That is true. I forgot they did the Kirby anime as well, although I think I vaguely remember some things being changed or altered from the Japanese version when they brought it over. I agree with the music thing, they really ruined a lot of series with that stuff, Yu-Gi-Oh GX being one of the worst offenders of that imo. That Shaman King intro is the only piece of original music they made for an anime I actually quite liked, but even then like I said; I don't think I'd say it's better than the original Japanese OP's.

I don't trust 4kids dubs at all.

I'm not American so I barely had translated anime from that time period, only manga, and when we had anime it was never the 4kids versions afaik.
Shaman King was always pretty mystical to me because a friend's older brother had a bunch of the mangas and a downloaded GBA game and I thought it was the coolest shit.

I've always wanted to read the whole thing but just never ever got around to it.

I will say though; I do still have a soft spot for the intro they made for their version. Not gonna say it's better than the Japanese OP's, but goddamn I'd be lying if I said I hated this:
I kind of unironically prefer this intro to the Japanese one, it hits JUST right ::sailor-embarrassed

Not particularly great, unless you have heavy nostalgia 4kids dubs are usually pretty atrocious.

When I re-read the manga, I still read the characters in their 4Kids voices. So I guess it had some effect on me.
