What are the ugliest looking shows you’ve seen or came across?

Wow, I am sorry but I have to add here 99% of western cartoon shows lol.

Things like Simpsons, Futurama or American Dad are ugly as hell for me. As I only like anime looking or cute things, I also could include Marvel, DC and all variants. My country has very ugly cartoons as well, they are monstruosities but for some reason kids do not care about how ugly a show is lol.

Mmmm, I have to think hard about it. But one comes to mind right now:

There is one I wanted to watch, but everytime I think it is western I feel ghosebumps. Maybe I will get the courage someday:

A lot of early Cartoon Network shows were just really ugly IMO, Ren & Stimpy, Cow & Chicken, etc

This one’s pretty nostalgic to me.

I know you’re desperate so I don’t wanna ruin things but this one isn’t worth it imo. Too flip floppy in quality.
Thank you for the recommendation. Then I will have to stick with anime series only :D

Haha my pleasure, always happy to warn people about rwby
If it makes you feel any better I wasn’t strictly commenting on the story, even the animation has dogshit moments all the way into season 9 (yes this thing somehow went nine full seasons with no signs of stopping)
Speaking of anime I don’t know what you’d enjoy but maybe you’d like Monster.

Two shows I remember having a problem getting through because of how ugly they look:

Shinsekai Yori: It's holistically ugly although disguised a bit by looking similar to other shows of its day, but animated more poorly.

The Slayers season 1. I loved this show as a kid, but I can't rewatch it as an adult. There is no animation. It's all panning shots over single frames.

Slayers season 1 was definitely a lower budget. Ugly? no.

Well, my favourite anime series are:
  • Madoka Magica -> My favourite composer, Yuki Kajiura, writer, Gen Urobuchi, and animation group, Gekidan Inu Curry take part in the anime. That what makes it my favourite of all times. Also, I like Shaft animation studio very much.
  • Slayers -> My all time childhood favourite anime. Hayashibara Megumi is my favourite seiyuu.
  • Dai no Daibouken -> Dragon Quest anime is simply amazing. I watched the remake a few months ago and I enjoyed it a lot.
  • Hidamari Sketch -> My favourite slice of life anime. It is so cute and cozy, mixed with the right amount of humour. Sadly, not very famous.
  • Meitantei Conan -> I do not like long animes, but this one is a truly exception. Aoyama Gosho has a very special art style, and I consider 99% of episodes are wonderful, along with the movies.
  • Blood+ -> I find this anime very well executed, and touching. Saya is one of my favourite protagonists, and even the antagonist is great. Very recommended.
  • Toaru Kagaku no Railgun -> Amazing anime. Even the main cringe characters are someway lovable. I am a fan of Misaka Mikoto :3.
  • Toaru Majutsu no Index -> It mixes perfectly with Railgun. I love the way they tell the story with both together. Index is like a plushie :3.
  • Card Captor Sakura -> Maybe because I feel nostalgic, but I consider this anime is so wonderful in many aspects.

Animes I've watched that I like, but I don't consider wonderful:
  • Makoto Shinkai movies but 2 specific ones, which I consider amazing: Tenki no Ko and 5 Centimeters per Second. Suzume is in a middle ground. Very good but not wonderful.
  • Giburi studio -> All movies I've watched are great, but none of them touched me that much to consider any wonderful.
  • Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso -> The anime is good, but not too good.
  • Cowboy Bebop -> It's a great anime and very original, but the thematic didn't hook me completely.
  • Non Non Byori -> Very enjoyable slice of life anime. I can't really consider it one of my favourites because I only saw a few episodes, but it is very promising.
  • Rurouni Kenshin -> I really enjoyed this anime back then. But I don't know why I didn't feel the same when I rewatched it years later. Anyways I consider it very good.
  • Oshi no Ko -> I have mixed feelings with this anime. I saw the entire 1st season because there was no second at the time I watched it and although I enjoyed it, I didn't feel like I wanted to watch the second one, I don't know why.
  • Blood C -> This is embarassing to describe. But I felt something similar than Madoka watching it, although much less intense. The anime start is pure crap, but at some point it rebalances so quickly that you start not believing it. And at the end of the anime, you really want to watch the movie. And this is what I consider wonderful about it. The movie was like "how the heck this got so bumped up in quality all of sudden?". If the anime were good I could consider it a candidate to be one of my favourite series, but it wasn't :(

Animes I've watched partially that I don't like or I feel so-so:
  • Shingeki no Kyoujin -> Actually the only thing I like about the anime is Mikasa and Levi.
  • One Piece -> I just don't like it.
  • Naruto -> Absolutely not for me.
  • Death Note -> No, thank you.
  • Evangelion -> Absolutely not.
  • Jujutsu Kaisen -> Another anime not for me.
  • Bleach -> I tried but no, I can't enjoy it.

The animes I feel I want to watch:
  • Made in Abyss -> I feel suffering + moe appealing. I don't know about the plot too deeply though.
  • Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood -> My friend told me wonders about it.
  • Girls und Panzer -> Girls and tanks? sold lol.
  • xxxHolic -> I always been curious about this anime.
  • Spy x Family -> I want to watch it but with this one I know I will need help. I need someone to watch it with, or I will never have strong enough will to start doing it.
Well, I had to think a lot to come up with this long post jaja. I hope it helps to know what kind of animes I might like, although I feel everything is pretty random :S

Oh nice this gives me a pretty good idea of what to recommend haha.
That’s my favorite mahou shojo atm, it’s pretty fun.
Shingeki no Kyoujin
Damn I was gonna recommend this one but fair haha.
  • Death Note -> No, thank you.
  • Evangelion -> Absolutely not.
Yeah these two are really not great jaja.
Jujutsu Kaisen -> Another anime not for me.
This one’s a bit obtuse but it’s kinda fun.
  • Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood -> My friend told me wonders about it.
  • Girls und Panzer -> Girls and tanks? sold lol.
  • xxxHolic -> I always been curious about this anime.
All these are high recs from me haha.
  • One Piece -> I just don't like it.
  • Naruto -> Absolutely not for me.
Agreed OP is overrated although I do love Naruto and bleach hahahaha.

  • Slayers -> My all time childhood favourite anime. Hayashibara Megumi is my favourite seiyuu.
  • Dai no Daibouken -> Dragon Quest anime is simply amazing. I watched the remake a few months ago and I enjoyed it a lot.
Same haha. Slayers is cute and Dai is my childhood. Watched it in Arabic. Watched the remake too. I’m a big DQ nutjob haha.
Oh I totally adore these two haha. Saw index all the way in college and I’m big into magical girls.

Hahahahahahaha, it’s fine my message was pretty scattershot too and my tastes are equally random but mayhaps you’d enjoy School Rumble.

Doesn't have to have color to be interesting to look at

Thing is, these and segadude's examples are still vibrant and interesting to look at. There's contrast, focus, everything in the scene is highlighted visually as well as having lots of detail and personality

compare that to caped crusader where on top of the near-blindingly dark color palette, all the character designs and setpieces are so bland and simplistic that they lack almost any visual identity and just get lost in the sea of brown and dark blue.

The show wants to vehemiantly pay homage to the original 1930's detective comics era of Batman, but it fails to utilize the rich shadows, colors, and atmosphere that made those books so interesting to look at.
Not to mention the shows and movies that came before it which ALSO leaned heavily into the noir aspect but still manage to incorporate color and personality into their visuals

OH MY GOSH. The song, it is so epic, although it does not say any other thing than Dai lol. I watched the original series in catalonian, one of my two mother languages, but I like more this song.

It's so lovely we share many animes. I will take your word and include School Rumble in my list as well ::heart
