What are some of your favorite 6th-7th gen action games?

Been on a bit of an action game kick lately, having beaten Ninja Gaiden Sigma and DMC3 for the first time recently. With that in my mind, I have been wondering what are some of people's favorites from the the 2000s to 2010s! Trying to find stuff that could have fallen under my radar

(as im writing this I realize that I should probably get into the rygar reboot loool)

great picks with Ninja Gaiden Sigma and DMC3, those are absolute beasts. That era was stacked with action gems, and I’ve definitely got a few favorites that might’ve flown under the radar:

• God Hand – Clunky at first, but once it clicks, it’s pure chaos and comedy. The combat depth is wild.
• Shinobi (PS2) – Fast, stylish, and brutally hard. If you liked the challenge of Ninja Gaiden, this one’s worth a shot.
• Otogi 1 & 2 – Gorgeous, atmospheric, and surprisingly fluid for early Xbox titles. Underrated FromSoftware magic.
• Bujingai: The Forsaken City, Feels like a lost cousin of DMC with some wild aerial combos.
• Vanquish – Sliding around in slow-mo with a rocket-powered suit? Yes please.
• Bayonetta – If you haven’t hit this yet, it’s basically Platinum’s spiritual successor to DMC.
• Rygar: The Legendary Adventure Since you mentioned it… yeah, it’s janky but charming. Definitely worth a spin if you’re in that mood.

Devil May Cry series and Kingdom Hearts series on PS2

For the longest time, I got REALLY into the PS2 Warriors Orochi games. Warriors games (especially at that point) never really had insanely deep combat, but just the fact that you can do insanely long juggles in the Orochi games by character swapping really sucked me in for some reason. I had nights where I stayed up late and all I did was lab out possible combo tech. It was not healthy in the slightest.

I'm not super into "character action" games other than maybe Ninja Gaiden (the original NG II on the Xbox 360 is great) and I guess the old God of War games if those count. So most of these won't fit that mold

This actually has the character action or Ninja Gaiden type vibe, but in 2d

And these aren't pure action games but they have really fun combat

PS2 shinobi series one of my all time favorites. I wish sega would bring the game to modern consoles because it just dont play right on emulation
