What are some genuinely bad games you enjoy?

Too lazy to grab my cart, but Batman Forever for the Genesis.
I've been playing this game as a kid and still (even as an adult) can't make it past the elevator sequence.
I've made it my life goal to finish this garbage before I die.

One of the first few genesis games I remember playing when I was around 5 years old in '96 years and years later I thought "what was that pink horse game that had the wizard like dude in the robe that scared the shit out of me when he came on screen?" I still play it every now and then for a quick laugh.

I'll throw in another one with Red Ninja: End of Honor

Messy camera and controls, janky as all hell. It's the 'We have Tenchu at home" of ninja games. But I still can't help but enjoy it. If nothing else, being able to hang a guy from a tree as a stealth kill is badass.

I think I have to go with 'Sonic 06' as well. It's the best example I can think of.
I first played it in 2018 or 2017 when living in a dorm. Me and my buddy bought it sort of as a joke, but also because we both were extremely curious.
We had an insanely good time with it (mainly due to good company of course) and while it's really really rough, it wasn't quite as unbearably dogshit as I had anticipated.

If the ultimate goal of media is to entertain, then I suppose Sonic 06 is a successful piece of media at the end of the day.

+1 from me too, I actually liked how it felt unfinished. Kinda gave it character that its contemporaries didn't have, heh.

I definitely don't consider PS3 Nier or Deadly Premonition as genuinely bad, they are flawed gems sure, but they are some of the most beloved cult classics of their generation and do so many things amazingly well. Then there's stuff like Trio the Punch: Never Forget Me and Mystery of the Druids, that are quite bad in pretty much everything they try, but go for that so bad its good humor that also makes it hard to consider genuinely bad. Which leads me to the obvious conclusion...

Melee.
I said it.
That game is far too jank and unfinished to be considered a good game. But being a bad game doesn't make you a bad game. If it's fun or fun-ee, it's not on my shit list.

also Touhou Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom, Metal Slug 4, Donkey Kong Country 3, Fire Emblem Fates, Hoshi wo Miru Hito, and Sonic Advance 3

Xenogears too, but only from story perspective

D (or, D no Shokutaku, if you prefer) is barely even a game, it's "3D" in the same way donkey kong country is but instead of having real gameplay, you wander around a house VERY slowly in set paths, and you have to watch a long ass fmv each time you go anywhere. the puzzles are kinda whatever, which isn't great for a game whose only gameplay is the puzzles. but despite all of that, i still can't help but love it. having a game done entirely in FMV, nevertheless computer generated FMV instead of live action, must have been mindblowing in 1995. (it predates toy story by a couple months.) plus, the horror aspect is really charming, it's full of over the top stingers and borderline jumpscares, but they're more cute than annoying. kenji eno was always willing to do some completely off the wall stuff, and i miss him every day he's been gone man.

Mighty No. 9.
It kinda proved that even if it was the original maker it wouldn't make it automatically good.

Quite a flaming but understandable take.

not actually ''bad'' games, but more like, janky/cheesy ones, which can still provide lot of cool moments, especially some of them, like dpremonition or fatal fury 5

in no order

- fallout new vegas
- ff7: docerberus
- ultra age
- wanted dead
- sliterhead
- fatal frame 5
- dpremonition 2
- original nier
- gungrave (2022)
- alan wake 1 (original)
- witcher 1
- orphen (ps2)
- just cause 2
- turok 2008
- uncharted 1 (it really aged)
- blacksite area 51
- the amazing spiderman 1 game
- shenmue 2

I really like quite a few of these. I'd take a goofy, janky but otherwise fun or soulful game over a technically perfect but bland game any day of the week.

Mystaria/Blazing Heroes. I love this game, but its really awful, and i never see anyone talk about it in Saturn lists.

Interesting. I have very little experience with the Sega Saturn, so these are the kinda responses I was hoping to get.

I wrote a tiny bit about it before, but the gist is,

1. Its ugly to look at.
2. None of the games music is memorable
3. Bad animations. Like, the bare minimum.
4. Bad story. Stop evil guy. Its no Shining Force 3.
5. Slow and grindy gameplay.

So what about it is good? There's around 12 possible party members, but you can only take about 6 with you. And its got a nice skill system where you learn new skills constantly, choosing which ones you want to use due to limited skill slots.
