I love how the brain creates connections. The fact that I listened to a video on the history of Soul Calibur on this specific street of my work route suddenly making me think of Soul Calibur whenever on that street is so cool!

There is a specific grocery store that I was listening to a video on Doom 3DO's hellish dev cycle while shopping in for work. In the yogurt aisle the customer couldn't decide what they wanted, so most of the video played while in that aisle since it was the lazt item I needed for the order. The result is that in that specific grocery store's yogurt aisle, I specifically picture Doom 3DO.

Do you guys have any weird associations like this?

I got my copy of Mega Man X3 from a family friend at a local rental shop and received it during a time when a lot of my extended family was in town, so I associate it very strongly with my first childhood home. My time first playing through it with my cousin who I only saw twice a year is an incredibly strong memory for me.

I get this a lot with TV shows.... I often have something on in the background, so I will get like, specific flashbacks to certain Youtube Videos or Episodes of TV when I put on certain games.

I also have a particularly bad memory associated with the final hour of Metal Gear Solid 2, where a domestic abuse thing was happening in my house and I had to threaten to call the cops. I still get anxious and emotional when thinking about the end of the game in a way that is certainly not the game's fault, and really bums me out because I enjoyed it a lot. Should probably replay the game to try and overwrite those bad memories.

For a long time i refused to play MGS V because i first played it during the worst period of my life so i associated that game with those times. I did eventually get over it and can now play MGS V just fine but it took me a few years for me to be able to touch it without having panic attacks from the PTSD.

I associate The Gray Garden with messing my sleep schedule, let me explain, i used to play it as a way to kill time while i needed to stay up the whole night, and it kinda became my don't sleep game, just listening to the music of it is enough to keep me awake.

I also associate Def Jam Fight for NY with street soccer, cause its what i played right after coming home from well, playing street soccer with the boys.

Final Fantasy V makes me think about yogurt.
There is no deep meaning behind this, I'm just reminded of a moment in my youth, grinding job levels while snacking on whatever I could find on the fridge, and this one time my mom bought a bunch of packs of yogurt since they were on sale.

Black ops 3 with the a shop for playing PlayStation in it with the homies (You open the door! No you I paid for last door!!)

Black ops 2 with the homies in my friend home.

Red alert 3 with Carrefour.

Hospitals with silent hill 1.

I associate with Doom because…rip and tear

Whenever I do laundry I think of Centipede, because whenever I'd go to the laundromat as a kid with my mom there was a centipede machine there.

When I first played Demon's Souls on PS3, I was listening to the band Little Dead Bertha's album "Angel And Pain" a lot. So I associate both with eachother, despite neither the game nor the album having anything to do with eachother.

Whenever I listen to the album, I think of Demon's Souls. Whenever I play Demon's Souls, the songs from the album play in my head.

I associate a lot of childhood games with my childhood home (which no longer exists)
Maybe thats part of what makes them so comfy.

I associate pepperoni+jalapeno pizza with long grinding sessions in Everquest 2.

Your childhood home no longer exists either? Mine was leveled and rebuild due to an invasion of fungi making the authorities deem it unlivable.
